I also wish there was a middle ground to make everyone happy, but it doesn't seem like that will happen. In that case, I think it's better to have the information early. You could always set a reminder on your phone for the actual date of the sale/giveaway.
Appreciate the Op's heads up though, Homeworld should be a fun MP game with friends.

Thankfully the internet didn't run out of space and the front page still had enough room for "7.2-Oz Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers Gummy Worm Candy" for the 19th day in a row. Last too soon Epic freebee notification was in June when the front page was full of snow blowers and ice scrapers. Again, guessing we missed nothing too time sensitive.
