This camera was a fail. It was only a few grams lighter but loses the removable battery, gps, screens, and a bunch of other features. It never should have been $400 or even $300.

The sale price on the hero11 is $300 pretty regularly with included GoPro subscription, it's a better value for most to have a screen and removable battery considering the weight is barely increased. $200 is fine, the camera was still a flop for GoPro. They need to start looking at Insta360 more closely.

Reminder the hero 11 mini saves only .8 ounces and you lose gps, the screens, removable v
Battery, no hindsight, no photo mode, no webcam mode, no stereo audio, no media mod compatibility, no setting or film mode shortcuts on screen, and you are forced to use the app for many adjustments which is slow.

How is this company still in business? They should have been bankrupt 5 years ago. Glad to see the discounts coming. Hopefully this is the last push to clear inventory before filing bankruptcy

I thought they were the market leader on this sort of thing. What am I missing?

I never upgraded from the GoPro haha, i stopped using a cam for my motorcycle rides. (the mount on my helmet broke..)

Ive seen videos of people looking into GoPros and how they have problems that aren't fixed in the newer gens. Digging more into it, you find that GoPro has amazing advertisement but their tech is eh, with problems. I didn't dig into who i should go into next because i stopped using cams.

I was on the GoPro treadmill upgrading year after year before I realized a very simple maxim: Cell phone cameras are strictly better than action cameras, especially if you have a good phone. It follows than that you should simply put your phone/old phone in an underwater case and use it normally. And then I saw this Apple advertisement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ag_zvVl9RM

The manufacturer is Aquatech, the product is AxisGo underwater housing for iPhone. If all you use it for is activity in the water, there is no reason to use a GoPro at all. Plus, you get all the benefits of a phone and the natural camera interface you're used to. You can Airdrop, post it anywhere, iCloud everything, all without the need to use GoPro's horrible transfer software or fiddle with silly memory cards.

I've been GoPro-free for 5+ years now and I couldn't be any happier.

Taking a trip next year. Swimming around at the Great Barrier Reef. Doing some island beaches. Wandering around Asia. Have regular camera gear and generally don't like messing with video files, but thought a GoPro would be a good idea for this one. This seems like it would get the job done. Any reason not to go in at this price for a causal user?

That's one way to go, I suppose. I still use action cams for a lot of footage though and many others do as well. I agree that GoPro has problems but so does every other camera. I have the DJI Action 2 & 3, Sony RX0 Mark II, the Insta360 One RS and have tried a few others and returned them. I am still on the lookout for the perfect camera that can shot 5.3k 60, 4k120 and 10 bit color. There isn't much out there except GoPro and DJI unless you step up to cinema rigs which aren't waterproof or easy to mount. I still haven't found anything better than the GoPro Hero 11 and I've had every GoPro since the 3 black. If someone else has found that holy grail, I'm all ears!!

I have dji action mini 2. Its software ,boot up speed, app and even quality is better than Gopro. The only thing holding me now is some minor stuff which still gopro is better. I think Osmo action 4 will be the point that I'll leave gopro for good.
I have the DJI Action 2 as well and it's an amazing camera and form factor, but it too has its problems and limitations to a GoPro hero 11. Mainly - No 10 bit color, can't shoot in 5.3k, only waterproof without the battery module or an optional added case. Overheats extremely quickly in 4k or in the optional waterproof case. Not durable without an additional protective case which approaches the size of a GoPro when assembled.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm saying..there are things that Gopro still does better and that's why I can't ditch Gopro YET!

Its overheating or lack of 5.3k is not a big deal for me. For me is its 12 mega pixel is issue I need higher mega pixel. And the fact that the module is not waterproof are the bad things.

But after all, look at the boot up speed! It is a huge deal for me. Gopro takes a life time to turn on and because of that, i missed so many ops that I could immediately capture but it took like 5 sec to turn on or record. Dji Actions are instantenous! One touch and you're good to go

I would go for the regular size GoPro for that use. You will have to use the app to change the settings on this mini 11 and that will be a PITA when you just want to throw the camera on and roll. Plus like everyone has mentioned, if the battery dies you will have to plug it in to charge it Vs swapping a battery pack out.

I agree great camera and I had one back in 2016. Unfortunately they never updated it and it only had 4k30. Mine stopped working in 2021.

I agree with you on boot up speed and agree on the 12 megapixel. I truly love my Action 2 and it's always in my bag. It takes up almost no space! The Hero 11 in 5.3k 8:7 shoots in over 24 megapixel video (5312x4648 resolution) That's 30 24.7 megapixel images a second if I still capture from video, even higher resolution if I capture in photo mode. That's twice as much resolution as the Action 2 and with the 8:7 sensor, I can reframe in almost any aspect ration and still have more detail than any other action cam out there. I know most don't need this, but there is nothing else out there that can do what the Hero 11 can.

If Apple ever makes and action cam it would put GoPro outta business. GoPro is waaaaay overpriced for what it is.

Thanks. That helps with some basics that I was missing and gives me a couple of important bullet points to look out for. Will keep on the lookout.

The lense is not removable so if you scratch it you need a new camera essentially
