For those interested in DH or burly mountain bikes, the Specialized bike may be the one you have been looking for. The main things include:
* BoXXer dual crown fork (180mm travel DH fork ... about $1400 if you want to resell)
* 700 Wh (5-hours)
* v2.2 motor (90 Nm or 4x effort)
* Mastermind TCU (supposedly ability to lock out compared to Comp or older versions)
Because this is "new stock" you may wind up with the upgraded battery charge cover as well. The S2's have been in stock for the Sand/Doppio color, but the S3s have been mostly OOS (two showed up two weeks ago, and now it looks like they have enough for me to order 2-3 more)

All of the reviews on this bike, especially with the related rear shock (not coil but air) have been overwhelmingly positive with the main critique being the price. Well, it's 36% off and if you live in Oregon (Ashland via Siskiyou Cycles on the CA border by Medford) then there is $0 sales tax but a $50 delivery fee.
Check the geometry, the "reach" is a little longer compared to other bikes but if you're used to things like dirt bikes or down-hill rides, it should be just on spot as the charge (go small for nimble, go large for stability). Mixed reviews on the brakes ("Great stopping power!" to "It feels washed out after a few runs") and the most recent review (2-3 days back via Reddit) had complained about the seat post drop ("maybe kinked cable when installed").
But overwhelmingly positive reviews.
If you interested in trying it out, the Specialized web site allows you to try and "find in store" but heads up - several retailers are still showing the $9000 price (grrr!) and not everyone has them in-stock. Play with the color (green vs coffee) and sizing for the most up-to-date options.
If you're checking craigslist, eBay, etc. pay attention to the # of gears (11 vs 12), selectors (X01), rear suspension spring, 6Fatties, TCU and other give-aways that it's not the most recent or different variant. That BoXXer fork ...
If you're hitting USFS or BLM land (such as Yosemite) the NPS classify this as a Class-1 E-Bike which pretty much means that you can take it anywhere you can take a MTB.
There is a derestrictor also, but $180-250 doesn't make it worth it IMO. The wheelbase on the bike is about 49.5" so check your bike carriers "just in case"

I feel like the real deal at this time is for their kenovo sl comp, for $200 more you get a full carbol frame which honestly has enough power for anything ( unless you ride with buddies on full fat ebikes that use turbo / boost mode mostly ), while still being light enough to pedal up hill with the motor off ( as low as 39lb I believe ).

I own 4 bikes, a full fat ( santa Cruz : bullit ), 2 regular bikes ( 2019 evil : offering , 2021 specialized : enduro ) and my SL ebike ( Kenovo SL ), I honestly feel like SL's ( "super light ebikes ) are the sweet spot at the moment , I find myself never riding my full fat and only riding my regular bikes when everyone I am riding with is on regular bikes. My SL weighs only 4lb more than my spesh enduro ( they are practically the same bike, one just has a motor and the other doesnt ).
If you can wait, I'd wait. The SL Bikes are becoming more powerful whilst still being substantially lighter then full fats. Is the extra power needed? No, not really, but Bosch just announced their new SL motor / battery which looks great!
These are just my 2 cents, and what I've found from owning many bikes.
edited : to fix the actual price difference between kenevo / kenevo sl.
Keep it coming.

The Kenevo Expert with it specd out is a Hella price for sure.

What about people's first car being cheaper?

The Kenevo will be a bit too numb for anything a sane newcomer will be able to throw at it, unless you are a hardcore dirt bike trail rider. It is a DH bike practically, but one you can pedal around (50/50 with the motor).

Need people to stick with biking. I rather deal with bad bikers than drivers
This is a new bike. You won't get a new first car anywhere near this. This is similar to a race car. Low production, high precision. High cost. People likely won't out drive this bike like an economy sedan

How about this for commentary: how does it feel to be a poor ?
I could totally see this bike (on a kuat rack) on the back of a '99 Legacy wagon...
Priorities.
I'm loyal to specialized despite what "serious" mountain bikers say. I've been looking for a good deal on a first ebike and I got excited when I saw this. Maybe some day!
