One thing to keep in mind with DC fan motors...if you're below the age of 30 (only an observation not scientific) and haven't lost your high frequency range of hearing ..and they use a cheap DC motor, there is a high chance you will hear the very high frequency whine from the DC motor.

I just installed four of the Hampton Bay DC motor fans from the last sale. In spaces like a living room, the sound mostly gets absorbed by the room, but in the bedrooms it's almost unbearable...strongly considering returning them. I do LOVE how otherwise quiet they are compared to an AC fan.

More energy efficient, and they're often quieter running as well compared to AC motors.

This is great.. until the cheap electronics in most 'smart' devices crap out on you within a couple years leaving you with a dead product.

Whatever fan you are getting. Make sure it is a DC motor.

Refuse to buy any appliances going forward that are not smart appliances. Has made life much easier and more efficient. Saves money too! Room gets too hot? Fan comes on. Still gets hot? Turn AC on too. 72 degrees yet? Yep. AC off, fan stays on until it cools off outside or sunset. And all that depends on if someone is 1) home and/or 2) in the room

Except majority of the fan automation switches aren't compatible with DC motors, I.e. GE Cync

Yeah I'd rather the smart feature be the switch.

With the first link, you can filter for "DC Motor" under Features on the left

Kasa (my smart ecosystem) is coming out with a ceiling fan switch soon. Added dumb fans in anticipation of this. May not work with DC motors but kasa has surprised me in the past.
