Crazyland.

Costco was selling the $99 K243Y bi almost identical but IPS version https://www.costco.com/acer-24%22...74589.html

This deal is for the K243Y Hbi (note the added "H"). "H" means "ha, no IPS".

Adds a lot of confusion when trying to find reviews.

I have another need for a 24-27" monitor for a non-gamer - just basic MS office, YouTube and other internet sites.
For $79.99, and the Costco backing, this seems like the best value at the moment for a monitor.
But, it's a VA monitor instead of an IPS monitor. Also, it would be better to have an HDMI + DP (instead of VGA).

Decisions, decisions.

If anyone knows of a better monitor for <$100, please let us know.

IPS advantage is view angle, but for such small monitor and you sit close view angle isn't a big issue. I would prefer VA for higher contrast and better color.

Sometimes I think I must be the only one in the world without a Prime membership. I lose out on those Prime-only deals (and Woot deals). I'm getting to think that the savings pays for a Prime membership.

I'm in no rush though. Within the next month or so, something else will probably come up. Plus, "Costco" adds value to any product deal, and "Acer" is a small bit better than "AOC" when it comes to brand, reliability, driver updates, potential resale, etc.

Don't beat yourself over the these prime only deals.. even if you had a prime membership the likely hood of scoring these deals is tough unless you're on SD 24/7 ..

Why the heck do you think Aoc is not better than Acer? Acer is the worst popular and barely reliable brand in the entire market. Any brand less than Acer is literally like unusable. AOC on the other hand is the best in cheap market for not only build quality but also reliability.

Okay, I didn't know that. Thanks for the update.

The models, and variations on models, from Acer is unbelievable. They must have 50 different unique models for 24", and again for 27" monitors, worldwide. Instead of consistency, Acer seems to look for good purchase opportunites on cheap screens, then assemble a huge quantity, then get on to the next model, or model variation. Even just model name isn't enough to know exactly what you'll receive from Acer, because of their switching up components later with a second or third variation.

Other brands will continue selling a specific model for many years, like Dell, HP, Asus, etc.

FYI it does have VESA mounting (100x100); it does not have speakers.

Really? I've had two HP 27" monitors as my main displays for 4 years now and they look great for text.

They were much cheaper when we bought them before the pandemic, closer to the $200 range.
