Do you have link to a brand name 2Qt ice cream maker for $40? You may find cheap brand 1.5qt for around $40-50. Even Cuisinart 1.5qt is over $60. I got one by Dani with 1.5qt capacity for around $40 around 15 years ago. The wall of the bucket is much thinner than the KitchenAid one.

I was thinking the same thing before I bought my first machine a few days ago but after I made my first batch I have no regrets and am glad I bought one the killer deal on the machine made it even better. Link:

Even if it isn't cheaper than store bought (heavy cream is expensive) the homemade ice cream tastes better and you know what you're eating. There's no preservatives/chemicals etc. It's basically just milk, cream, sugar and whatever you flavor it with. You can also adjust/tweak the recipe to exactly how you like it.
My first batch was chocolate and not strong enough for me so I increased the cocoa powder until it was much better, it tasted the way I like it, like Ben and Jerry's chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate, thick and chewy.

Just my 2 cents for someone considering buying their first ice cream machine.

Wife and I were just taking about getting a shaved ice maker after having some recently and cause this heat has been intense this year. Thanks op, kitchenaid attachments usually are pretty good quality.

You will see the promotion code box after you login PayPal and go back to the cart before placing order. I just ordered the shave ice attachment with PayPal. For ice cream maker, look for Ninja Creami instead.

I don't need this but here I am. Thankfully I just looked through the reviews on the ice cream maker before ordering. The blade part is plastic, with lots of reviews showing it will not hold up well once the cream starts to solidify.

You can get compressor based ice cream makers for $125 when they go on sale. That's the way to go to make ice cream. These things where you have to pre-freeze the tub are garbage.
