It went down to $109.99.

I have a Crucial X8 2TB.

I'm thinking of getting this one too for the hardware encryption that it has for my backups.

Is there a reason you want to use Sandisk's software for encryption? I believe it's called SecureAccess but I'm not familiar with it.

Are there benefits (speed, etc) to using the encryption software developed by the hardware manufacturer?

My understanding is that this and some others like Samsung have a chip onboard for encryption security. I read that the hardware type security is better than using a SW solution.

I'm not sure yet how SanDisk has the interface SW tied in, but I'll be finding out soon.
