Dang it.

I must be the only one old enough to miss the cheap $10 or FAR shredders deals.
cross cut is not the same as microcut. the cross cut does not cut as finely.

Appears to be the cheapest price ever. This is the "old" version which appears to be better reviewed compare to the new one which is "louder and harder to open the drawer" and I can't find anything that really shows a difference other than where the credit card is supposed to be inserted to be shred.

The Members Mark shredder is awesome too. Relatively quiet. I have it and love it.

I bought a Fellowes 12 sheet from Walmart for 75. My old Amazon basics lasted about 5 years before the gears gave up.

Anyone has experience with Fellowes? First one I've bought.

I bought the 8 sheet one awhile back. The optical sensor gave out after about 6months of light use. The Auto Mode still works as the unit senses the paper when fed through. However, I have to manually slide the power switch to turn it off. Kind of annoying albeit functional.

I have opened the unit and cleaned the sensors but the problem persists.

I don't own the exact model you got, but I have a 16-year-old Fellowes shredder that still performs excellently. It came fitted with a touch-stop sensor and cross-cut function, advanced features then. The machine has been reliable year after year.

Their customer service is absolutely the best. About six years ago, my shredder stopped working. I reached out to the customer service department and spoke directly with someone. She guided me through the necessary troubleshooting steps and resolved my problem - even if mine was an old and out-of-service model.

I have the 8 sheet one and had the same problem after maybe 7 years. It was fine for super light use but gave me problems after I had to shred a lot (a lot!) of docs and it overheated several times. After that it never worked the same. It still shreds, it just can't be left on auto

Thanks. Sounds like I'll keep the Fellowes then.
