Most of the password protection apps are hackable, thus why hardly anyone supplies it any more. Barely any of them actually encrypted your data, and the ones that did, used old vulnerable encryption to keep the drives "speedy". Use BitLocker in Windows and encrypt your drive. (Or whichever encryption software you want to use)

Best practice for secure storage would be to use a disk/container encryption tool like Veracrypt, but that won't stop anyone from deleting / formatting the drive or its contents.

I have both versions and like them both. People might still choose the longer one because:

- easier to push in and pull out than thumb drives
- don't lose or misplace it as easily
- if I'm not mistaken, larger sticks (in general) tend to be more reliable in the long-term than thumb drives, perhaps because of heat disipation with larger space (and less packed chips maybe)
- the OP's version has a lot of metal to disipate the heat quickly, as evidenced by it getting HOT HOT HOT at times (e.g. big file copies or a format), but it won't hurt these sticks

I still like both versions and they have different uses. I'm glad you mentioned the other one too.

For general users, hackers are not waiting to get you. Shitty password lock is still much better than nothing.

Yeah, not much. Just like stolen laptops, people find a USB drive and either try to hack it themselves, or take it to one of the local bodega cell phone shop and have it hacked. The files within are a gamble. Are the files within the drive worth money? Can they be blackmailed? Are the files worth auctioning off? It's a gamble, but at the same time, people have their computer infected with Sogu and Snowydrive thinking Windows's defender will protect them. Just wait for the computer to decrypt the drive, and then have the files transmitted.

But yeah, if the drive is nothing but pictures of your cat, you really have nothing to worry about.

VeraCrypt free and easy, but you need to have it installed on whatever machine you open it on.

Apparently Amazon stores inventory (or at leased used to) by ASIN and not by seller which is where supply chain adulteration could happen.

I think this is the first time I've seen the Grey 256 go on sale (usually it is the Silver).

Good color match for Tesla 128 upgrade.

This flash drive pops up on Slickdeals pretty regularly and every single time I see it I think it's a whistle.

They still commingle it with shipments coming from other sources.

It's why you can't reliably buy Eneloop batteries on Amazon either.

I have two that I infrequently use. Every time I see this deal pop up again, I want to buy more. I think I will. Excellent product. Excellent price. I'm going to need a bag to store them.
