I have the 36v (2x18v) version of this. It will rip through 4x4 with no issue... I've even recently cut up 7 inch across pecan limbs after storms passed through with no issue with a demo blade. I'm not sure what the specs are on the 18v version, but I can say the 36v is a complete beast.

I believe they have the same cutting power. The stroke, and max cutting sizes are all the same, the only thing the 36v gives you is a longer runtime from what I can tell. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Great saw bought it a few months back for $15 more.

Ran into some compatibility issues with old, 1.5ah batteries and had to get some new ones. If the batteries don't work there is a groove that needs to be cut and filed open.

I have the corded version that I've loved and abused for almost a decade. Now i'm holding out for a deal on the subcompact cordless version for the lighter weight and portability of it. Still though, this is likely a great deal on the full sized cordless.

I have this and love it. Filling out my Makita line. I use it with the 5ah battery and have never drained it even when using on cutting back brush and small trees in a neighbor's overgrown yard.

i bought the subcompact and was making a funny noise after i would say moderate use (I dont abuse my tools). i opened it up and the motor housing was cracked. the shallow stroke length makes that thing vibrate violently at full speed. I bought this as I was waiting for the part to repiar the sub and this is WAYYYYY better get this one!

through a retail channel like amazon (first party), home depot and the like, no. never. but you can sometimes find these on ebay or from 3rd party amazon sellers selling it for sub $100. a lot of people buy bundle kits, keep the batteries/charger/bags and just sell the tool for dirt cheap.

i got my makita 40v hammer drill like that. paid like $85 brand new for the best hammer drill on the market as a bare tool. makita GPH01Z. it sh*ts on the dewalts and milwaukee but doesn't overheat and disable itself like the flex

I find metabo, bosch , dewalt and milwaukee cheaper than this, most any week of the year. This post has to be some kind of a scam paid advertisement, this deal is nothing special at all.
I don't think this is a scam. Makita, while great tools, are historically more expensive than other brands and you don't see the same kind of deals on these that you see with others. Only Makita deals I ever see at HD are Black Friday deals, rest of the time it's just close out inventory.
