I'm left with the feeling it's borderline fraudulent to call a VA panel a gaming monitor and will be purchasing an OLED.

I agree, I ended up with the LG ultrawide IPS that went on sale for $550. I'd love to have that Alienware OLED, but I had just bought the 95B OLED and couldn't justify more money into "screens."

TN? is that gaming just bad color?
What's going on here?
I get that people are into the best, but the best isn't always a slick deal now is it?
VA / TN panels aren't horrible relative to cost depending on your needs. If you are going to need the perfect color gamut - well, that's going to cost you at those refresh rates.

I've been using it as designed with multiple devices for the past 2 years, so feel free to ask me anything. I will concede it is not a gaming monitor, though. 60 Hz, no VRR. No software needed for PBP/PIP. It's all in the built-in menu.
I had the LG and it's a good monitor, but I couldn't overlook the relative lack of brightness and VRR Flicker when the monitor costs $1,000 (at the time, now It's 799@ B&H).
IMO at this point with the Alienware and G8 at $999 on-sale I think that the QD-OLED's are worth it as the ultrawide is going to be a preferable gaming experience for most.
Pro gamers will be looking at 1080 300HZ screens so I consider them a different user group.
