Per our research, the 14,000 BTU Greenland 4-in-1 Portable AC, Heater, Dehumidifier and Fan is $99.99 lower than the next available reputable merchant's sale price, starting at $449.99

Reviews of the 14k are terrible. Costco has a 12k Midea for $450 which may be a better value with warranty and return policy.

Just a heads up, any of these portable units (as an AC) are awful without a dual-hose setup. Otherwise the hot and cool air are all going through the same pipe. A central/split will always be the best, followed by a window unit. For two months when our AC died we used one of these (single-hose) and it was loud, inefficient, and just didn't work well.

For all the dual-hose snobs, read the user reviews. They get as many bad reviews as the single hose.

Even the dual hose are not good, but they are a bit better. All portable units will be worse than a somewhat modern window unit.

I'm an inverter portable AC guy now.
That thing gets colder than my heart.

Curious why a centra or mini split is better than a window unit? Do you on energy efficiency? Or just noise level? Or cooling capacity?

I would've thought a window AC is about as efficient as central AC or mini split. In terms of cooling capacity, I central or split is much higher capacity probably.

Yes. Single hoses units are just bad. If we as consumers stop buying them, the manufacturers will stop making them. As long as consumers are morons, money will be made. The only technical difference between a single and dual hose unit is some extra plastic. Nothing more.

Yes you're right on a per room basis in a non open-concept house a modern window unit probably rivals a central for the same square footage. But for an entire house a central will be the most efficient, especially when the rooms and vents are controlled.

For a 3,500 sqft home, with the original AC about $300 a month total per summer month. With the new unit it's about half. Bonus the new unit is also a heat pump so our propane bill almost disappeared now that it's a two stage system.
