Usually nothing for existing customers.

Cancel your service now, sign up for this deal under a different name (someone else that lives with you)

That's how I've gotten yearly deals

On Gigabit tier $70 a month with Autopay from checking. Everytime my offer runs out, something or other works out with Xfinity. If one CS doesn't help, disconnect and call again. Doing this since 10+ years. I have Verizon available in my area as well which is tad cheaper on gigabit tier, but I keep Xfinity.

Xfinity pricing is always based on the fact how much people can spend in their service area + how many other competitors are there. So lot of YMMV.

Yes, it only means they lock you into that price for 2 years, without risk of increase. You can cancel anytime. If a better deal came along, I could switch to it I presume.

we have 3 providers in my area. 30 dollars for 500 mbps for 2 years. currently another provider is advertising 25 bucks for 500 mbps.
if they try to increase the price, I will just switch to another I guess.

I'm a network / infra engineer. I would love to know what people with 400+ Mbps do with their connection. I locked in 2 years for $35 with Xfi Complete and get 230 down, 130 up. I have firewall, host VPN, backup to my home NAS when I'm out and I don't think I need more than my current speed.
What do you do at home, even with 5 heavy users, to justify 400+?

Every idiot thinks they need 10gbps+ internet. I grew up with 56k, then DSL, then fiber over phone line, and now fiber over cable. There is zero practical difference once you reach 100+, even when streaming with like 5 ppl. Websites and streaming services have long capped their own bandwidth to you. Your cat videos and tiktoks will not load any faster. Most social media maxes at a paltry 720p anyway. Even the highest bandwidth streaming like GeForce now at 4k120 maxes out at 50mbps. When I had 400mbps, I could actually download FASTER than my own home wireless network to my NAS. Obviously if I had a wired connection or beefier mesh network, it would be faster, but I don't need it that fast to stream pr0n off of. The little kids wannabe geeks are always using gaming as an excuse, like they play 20 new games a month and the games update every day. You literally can't even download that much on a PS5 with the standard 1TB drive, reduced down to 800GB from system installs. My sister has 1gbps fiber and her connection is horrible because of the house she's in and her wifi network. It was as bad as a mobile connection in a remote highway. Changed the router and satellites. Now it's blazing fast. And she literally only does remote work to an ancient work computer, so even sub 100mbps would suffice. Most ppl seem to ignore things like latency, line quality, and house coverage. They just blindly think the bigger the number, the faster it is. If you actually need high bandwidth, and most importantly, high upload speeds, for work applications, you wouldn't be stupid enough to be arguing over this or trying to hassle a deal every five minutes.
I knew I didn't need 10 Gbps, or even 1 Gbps (Gigabit) broadband, indeed we were perfectly content with a 400 Mbps plan, until COVID lockdown hit. Then I realized with multiple people home 24x7 we needed >10 Mbps upload, and the only way to get larger 15-25 Mbps upload was higher tier packages.

Why higher upload speeds? It wasn't even multiple people doing Zoom or video chats. It was stupid apps saturating the uplink for 5-30 min at a time, killing any downloads (even simple web browsing), due to bufferbloat. The worst uplink offenders?
-Apple devices, iPads, iPhones, Mac doing cloud backups or whatever, anytime they feel like it, with no way to control it (even if device is showing zero apps open)
-teenagers using free online video editing tools to create social media videos, the entire massive video clip has to be uploaded to the free online platform.

So we had to up our Xfinity tier to 600-1000 Mbps packages just to get a bit more upload speed to 20-25 Mbps. Now that they enabled mid-split in my neighborhood last month, we're getting 120 Mbps upload, we could drop to a lower speed tier - except we're already locked in for 2 years on the 800 Mbps tier for $20/month, ain't gonna get any cheaper...

Tired of the game with Xfinity. Moved to another provider when I got the chance. Fiber with 1gb up/down and no data cap. Paying less and getting more. Do I need 1gb? No. But the increased upload is really nice. I didn't expect to notice it, but I definitely see it in the response times of any video cameras. A lot less lag.

Still, if you can only get Xfinity, this is a good price if you can get it.

How are you getting more upload than down, and what did you do to get that level of upload speed? I'm paying for 1GB down, and the best they can give me is 20Mbps up.

How are they gonna do that? They can't even properly remove the sign from their building. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech...-rcna96166

Agree with this. Upload speeds are like 10mbps for the 400 mbps plan. Other i would sign up
Fiber has higher upload speeds. If you don't have fiber then you are subjected toe coaxial upload speeds which are very low.

This company customer rep is a joke. They talk to you like you're their friend and try to convince you buying their Mobile service. But guess what they can't do anything without getting your ssn...

Do you tell the rep to remove the modem from your account after cancellation so another household member can open a new account and use the same modem?
