Bought an acer laptop from Costco for school years ago where the keyboard got busted in less than a year and I never used the keyboard except for in class. When I was home, I'd connect to my desktop keyboard. I couldn't claim a warranty on it because I had no backup laptop while this would've been sent in service.

We are now awaiting to listen what you have had that broke apart.
I have an Acer aspire 5 that is a piece of junk. The screen only works about one out of ten times. Otherwise when you turn it on, nothing happens.
