Great little handheld. I picked one up for a little less than this a few months back and have been enjoying it almost daily at work. I upgraded to a 128GB SD card (picked up a Samsung for $10 on Prime Day), changed the OS, and added thousands of games. With the exception of 1 or 2 games, everything has run smoothly, even the PS1 games.

Now I'm considering upgrading to a more powerful handheld that'll run DC and Wii games. But this is still a great introductory handheld for getting into the hobby.

Shop for anything with a t618 chipset. I paid $115 for powkiddy x18s black but I'd recommend the retroid pocket 3+ or anbernic rg505 or rg405 around $160(in hindsight I'd spend more for better build) if you want to spend more get a steam deck

I get that people don't trust temu but I was able to get the rg353vs (Linux only) for $40. There are 50% off coupons out there for brand new customers and you have to have downloaded the app and purchased within 24 hours.

I thought the original firmware was just fine. ArkOS has been problematic. I used a quality SD card for the OS but I've heard that a second SD card for roms can be an issue. It won't wake up from sleep and often requires a few reboots to launch emulation station.

It's great for MSRP, it was a steal for $40

If this model can install arkos then yes! It comes with Kodi installed. Ours is loaded with kids shows and the aux output is an awesome feature

There's some kind of internal clock on the mini+. Mine's been off wifi since updating to the RC of OnionOS last weekend and still has the right time.

Honestly, they're both competent little handhelds, and you'll be happy with either one.
