This is a good change. In the past, you had to have a Best Buy credit card and you had to spend more than $2,500 per year just to get a 45 day extended return policy and some other "benefits" as an "Elite" customer.
Now they want to charge you $50/year or $180/year for a membership. During the pandemic, Best Buy was selling PS5's to people who were TotalTech members. I wasn't a member at the time so I missed out on that particular deal.
Best Buy is just following suit after Walmart, Costco, and Amazon who all have "special membership" deals for their "loyal dues paying" members.
