Hmm, maybe I'm doing chili wrong, but mine never sticks in the Instant Pot, and I hardly put in any excess liquid (mostly just what comes out of the meat and vegetables) as I like to get it as thick as possible. As long as I fry up the onions and brown the meat in it first, the oil seems to keep things from sticking and burning.... But I get what you mean, a thick curry, for example, the roux will tend to settle on the bottom during pressure cooking and get a burnt layer.

But nothing against this deal, I'm all for folks slow cooking, and looks like unlike the Instant Pot, this one you can put the inner pot into the oven for finishing a dish,...

Well, each has its place. You can't do a very dense soup like chili in the pressure cooker, it will burn on the bottom badly. Thus, you need something you can stir once in a while, this is it. yummy

Tried the instant pots….never got them to work as well as others rave about them. Slow cookers….I never have issues.

Agree with you about each having its place. But for my small kitchen, I'll stick with the IP. The soup/stew function works for us when doing stews and soups, never had any issues with burning or anything. Looks like a great deal if you're in the market for that.

Yep. Doesn't work as well, and some of those instant pots are not as big.

Using slow cooker mode burns the bottom for me. Instructions call for 1 cup minimum liquid. Recipe doesn't.

For some reason the title of this post is for a stand mixer.

Sure you can dork.

Do it all the time. You need a trivet to keep the heavy solids off the bottom.

I haven't tried my IP, I bought one but never have unboxed it. I just use our old hand me down 1970s crock pot in orange with its fancy high and low settings and it works great. I love slow cookers. I think this thing is just too big and you can get a slow cooker for about $35 that seems much more practical than this thing. Plus if the 14 items it states it replaces, well I don't have about four of them and most of the rest, such as a cast iron skillet and sauté pan, I will never replace.
