Compared to the Verbatim 9 in 1 which is still $16 Yeah the UGREEN one does 10GBps data transfer on usb-c port where the Verbatim is 5GBps but $56 vs $16 with everything else basically even? https://www.amazon.com/Verbatim-A...08FBL7LFL/

Even the discounted price of 40 seems a bit much

UGREEN dongles are legit. The name is super stupid but I've purchased a few of their different USB dongles for various computers at home and at the office and they're surprisingly good quality and worth the price.

Verbatim used to be a good brand for floppy disks.

CD's too...and their $16 9 in 1 dongle is sitting here on my desk working just fine. I also put one in my laptop bags to eliminate multiple other dongles. Ethernet, storage reader etc.

I've also have one of the ikling ones which works well. I mention them both for folks who want to make sure they have one that works fine under Linux.

The 5Gps vs 10Gbps USB is mostly useless. A bigger difference comes from the supported video resolution in displayport 1.4. The older two lane setup only gives 4K@30 support with USB 3.0+ or 4k@60 with only USB2.0 speeds. A DP1.4 dongle should give 4k60 with USB3.0+.

Besides having a faster USB hub, this UGREEN also has 2 USB-C ports. If you're planning on using this as a dock, you will probably use the USB-C PD port for power in - this means you won't have another USB-C port to use on the Verbatim.
These docks are all somewhat similar (see https://overengineer.dev/blog/202...dness.html), but there are different capabilities (number of ports, video outputs, and other accessories like card readers and ethernet), and there are also generational differences in the chips used which give them different capabilities (e.g., DP 1.2 vs DP 1.4, USB 3.0 vs USB 3.1 hub). The main one to look out for is 4K@30 vs 4K@60 - 4K@30 indicates DP 1.2 and is pretty much a no go at this point (you'll see that noted all over these SD posts). The 10Gbps speed here might be important when you are xferring files (e.g., reading from a flash drive or using an external SSD). Remember that the ethernet port is also sharing the USB bandwidth, so having 10Gbps will not only speed up transfers but may also mitigate network throttling.
I don't have this particular dock, but I have 2 UGREEN hubs from previous deals and they have held up fine over ~ 6 months of steady use. I also recently bought this https://www.amazon.com/SSK-Ethern...0BX281VLL/ which has been solid for the past month or so, and I would suggest considering that one as a cheaper alternative to this deal.
BTW, these devices can get fairly hot as there's a lot going on in a small enclosure. I found a way to mount mine to some metal under my desk which makes for a great heatsink. I think this may improve reliability.

Just glad to see Gb NICs included, on some like this, that run at full speed. Plenty of 100Mb still out there

That SSK one is nice. I'd certainly choose it over the Ugreen one's except that lightning port is a pain for non mac users. To get anything that can output at 60hz you pretty much have to jump up to the high 20's, low 30's range.

This company (CableCreation) isn't as well known and established as UGreen, but I bought this (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0967WZBGZ) last month to use with my MacBook Pro 16" 2019, and it's been working with no issues for me. Just my personal experience but wanted to share because some people may prefer the layout of the ports over the others that have been posted here. For my setup, I wanted the HDMI and USB ports all in the back for my desk setup to be more clean.

One downside is that it doesn't have a USB-C port for data (only one for PD), but for my use case, that didn't matter. YMMV.

I also found that they make what seems like an identical (but different color) version under a different brand name - "dockteck" (but the Amazon store it sells from is still CableCreation). So if you prefer a black color, here it is - https://www.amazon.com/Dockteck-E...09491F17Q/

Had one of these and a ugreen usb c to hdmi converter. Minimally used. The usb c hub fried both my external hard drives and the hdmi adapter was barely used. Both trash within 9-10 months.

Didn't get replacements when I tried to use the warranty. The hdmi adapter they refunded me but the usb c hub (was 30 something) they said they'd give me 20$ Amazon gift card (only 30 days) if I write a 5 star review and screenshat it.

fark that, and may not be relevant to buyers but at least you know the warranty situation.

Bought one of their older versions and got significant interference with Logitech dongles. Anker doesn't give me that issue. Hope these newer ones don't have the same issue.

Does the 3.5mm Jack get interference like the Amazon reviews say?
