My initial reaction was that this post was a scam because I had completely forgotten that this SKU even existed! But turns out it was relatively quietly released at the same time as the 7950X3D.

I saw this a few weeks back, but didn't post since the 7900X3D is a bad buy. Even at this price I would get the 7800X3D instead. I paid $550 at MicroCenter (with coupon) for the 7950x3D, only because I game and work with large architecture models.


For productivity only, I can see an argument for the 7900X, but not for the 7900X3D.

For gaming only, the 5800X3D is still enough (especially 1440p+). If want AM5 and DDR5, go for the 7800X3D for the extra 5-15% (dependent on resolution).


If the above isn't enough, remember that AMD DID NOT send any review samples out of this processor, because THEY KNEW it would get curb stomped.

I believe it is because this processor like its 7900x counter part is 6+6 cores split on 2 ccx's with an interconnect (which isn't terrible in itself, but is a bottleneck). 7950x3d is 8+8 and the 7800 is a single ccx of 8 cores. This will have similar gaming performance to a 7600x3d if/when they ever release it. All the 3d vcache is located on a single ccx.

I don't get why people are hating lol. Gaming wise, the 7950X3D, 7900X3D and 7800X3D are pretty much the same. The 7900X3D is just a better processor for other stuff lol. Comes with a free game too. For this price and current market, this deal is fine. Unless the 7800X3D goes for under 400 idk y ppl are hating.
