Also it's still basically a fundamentally old, classic game, but with some updates. It does require some grinding and a lot of roaming around getting stuff and info from people. Possibly some of the low reviews are from people expecting a more modern faster-paced experience. I got it at launch and glad I got it, would recommend at this price as long as you know what to expect. Good news about the patch -- I haven't tried it in a while, I'll see if it loads an update now.
Crisis Core needs to drop down to $25 for me to buy it. It's been dropping so slowly. Hopefully by BF it'll be that or less.

77 on Metacritic for Chrono Cross but the user score is bad (4.5 out of 10). Sounds like it doesn't run well at all on the Switch. That's a shame

Also wanted to add that I bought Chrono Cross soon after it came out because I want to support the porting and updates of games like this. I'm glad the Switch is becoming something other than a Mario-and-Zelda machine though there's nothing wrong with that.
The Switch is bringing us a lot of JRPGs and VNs many of which work fine both in handheld and docked mode, none of which need 4K graphics horsepower. Ironically I'm looking at my old PSP and Vita collection and wishing that more of that stuff would be ported to Switch (though some already have, which is great.) And even some old DS/3DS stuff.
Love this game! I picked it up last time it was on sale. Some reviews complain about the grinding, but never mention that you can speed up the game and turn on auto battles. This helps considerably. I could see them remaking this and/or Chrono Trigger at some point. Just give them the Super Mario RPG treatment and put them out!

Though I have no info to confirm it is happening.
I do think it has been fixed! From a video 5mo ago showing the update:

The physical version is flawed.
Such a good game.
