Note that you'll pay a lot more than $84 total. There's also a "resort fee" and then of course the taxes and fees. I think my wife booked a night closer to $130. Not a bad deal for 4 people to get into a waterpark for two days and have a hotel room.
We have visited the PA one almost 1x per year. We just went about a month ago and I will admit the "feeling" isn't the same. For instance, the main lobby had a very cozy feeling with sofas and decorations for the seasons. Now, it's just an emtpy space. The resort also removed all microwaves in the rooms (probably to force people to just buy more food) with one per floor in the ice machine room. Even though the focus isn't to use the microwave much, it was PITA to walk over to the room with the microwave and wait for others to finish using it.

The Arcade also used to be kid friendly so kids could have fun winning "something" here and there. Now, everything is extremely rigged to "maybe" payout like 1x every 30+ plays. In other words, even though the kids would want to go to the arcade, I would avoid it completely. Not to mention, the cost per gameplay is ridiculous. I think it comes to like 2 to 3 dollars PER play...

Regarding this 84 per night gimmick, I've tried and no joke, but the days where the 84 applies are the most obscure days during the week and it's only a few days here and there. So if you are planning for a weekend trip, don't expect much.

As many have mentioned, those resort fees do hit hard. Even though the amenities might not add up to the total fee amount, make sure to get those headband ears. Might not be worth the 30+ you pay per night, but it's something lol.

Overall, it can still be a worthwhile trip since if the cost of an entrance to most parks are about 30 to 40 per person. If a family of 4 goes for a day, it comes out to about the same while also including a night to sleep in.
Also, if you are interested, Groupon usually has sales on this place as well too, and theirs include 6 passes (instead of the standard 4, and each extra is $50). It maybe cheaper if you are going with a larger party to do via groupon instead.

They are currently running a 50% off all rooms special, since we are booking a larger suite we are going to take advantage of this deal instead. If the price shifts I'm going to call and ask that they adjust it to the new room cost, but I suspect our suite cost will be at or around the same price between the two deals.

Good share and exactly what we need, a plan for a trip away as the weather starts to get cold (Midwest).
Thanks and repped. Is there any specific code for this 50% off sale?

All the people commenting about urine + fecal matter in the water, is it any more than any water park in general, whether something like Kalahari in Poconos or Hurricane Harbor Six Flags or the like?

Trying to understand if this is an in general problem industrywide or GWL is particularly bad at managing it.

If it is bad everywhere, then it is more of a call to take whether taking young kids to water parks for fun is worth it or no.

Thanks and reps.

Is the water park entry also included in the lodge/stay ticket?

$84 per adult for both lodging and water play? How much for kids? What is included in the lodging (like food is inclusive)?
Just lodging and pass. You can bring your own cooler and food.

I went 3 months ago with my family (Anaheim, CA) and will not return again.

CONS:
The check-in process was ridiculous.
The water is filled with urine and fecal matter (which is why it's over chlorinated)
The park hits you with expensive resort fees and daily parking fees, so an $84 room is really closer to $250.
The staff you may think are lifeguards are not real lifeguards, DO NOT expect them to save a drowning child.
GWL has one of the most expensive Arcades I've ever seen. A majority of the games were close to $1 to play.
If you do not return a pool towel your room is charged a fee.

PROS:
They allow you to bring outside food.
Kids love water parks…even if you tell them they're swimming in sewage.

PRO TIP:
If you go to the Anaheim location, there are several good restaurants within a 5 mile radius, do not settle for the terrible GWL food.

Nickel Arcade is walking distance, all games are .05 cents.
If you're concerned about stuff in the water, I really hope you never go on the water at a beach...

I hope whoever invented resort fees is burning in hell right next to whoever created Ticketmaster.

What's the catch? Bed bugs??
Funny you say that. We used to stay at one of their locations once or twice a year until several years ago we found a bed bug crawling on my kids comforter when we woke up in the morning. Yes it was absolutely positively a bed bug. Even their in house exterminator confirmed it. We did an inspection of the room and didn't find any others in the usual spots (mattresses, behind headboards, etc). It must have wandered in from another room. They gave us some plastic bags and duct tape for our stuff and refunded our money. They also gave us tickets to come back another time, which we have decided against. Needless to say that weekend was ruined and there was lots of work once we got home to treat our stuff and make sure we didn't bring any bugs home. Even before we found the bug there were several other issues, including a missing outlet plate (kids don't stick your fingers in there!) and AC unit that quit during the night. I'm actually wondering if the maintenance guy tracked the bug in when he tried to fix the thermostat.

This place is an absolute money pit.
Any reason why? Food cost or something else? I have never been there but thinking of bringing the kids.

Might vary by location but our family of 5 always did one room.

It's a hotel - yes there's taxes and fees, I don't know why everyone is surprised by this. Some charge parking.

It's a public water park full of kids - there's definitely urine in the water. No different than any public pool or water park.

It's a theme park - yes there's stuff there that costs more money. Their average food is overpriced. It's not a Costco food court. Not a surprise. The pizza at the one I went to was pretty good though, I would get it again. You can leave and come back to get food elsewhere if there's options, it's not a prison.

If you have kids that love the water park and you stay at the water park you don't pay anything extra.

And now for some information you'll really find useful - Remember on water slides - keep your back and buttocks up, just touch at your feet and shoulders and you'll go faster. You're welcome.
