The company I work for has been using these for our Zbooks for years. I would say that approximately one out of five failed within the first two months.
The issue seems to be the cable and not the dock itself. I was given one for work and it didn't work. I changed out the Thunderbolt cable, and everything is working.
This thing rocks. 100W USB C. And the combo cable then gets it to 230.

My zbook g8 charges and operates at full performance. The dock has only DisplayPort but Amazon DisplayPort to hdmi cables work fine for my purposes.

I paid around this price from Walmart a little while ago.

how do these perform? i have used many varieties of the TBs and none could consistently drive 3 independent monitors. sometimes forced to only use 1 monitor and onboard screen. before going to HP laptop and TB docking station, i used Dell Inspiron and dell docking station, Dell could do anything configuration i wanted.

I am buying this one. I have the older one and use it on my work MacBook Pro and it is AWESOME. Gives me all the ports and charges great. I need one for my personal 16 inch MacBook Pro. Best docking station I have ever used.

Just FYI, that price is when it's sold by a no-name company called "ProPrime" that only has 55 ratings in the past year. It is, however, shipped by Amazon.

If you're willing to take the chance, it's also available for $134.99 [amazon.com] sold by "Quiet Day Shopping" and again shipped/fulfilled by Amazon. Quiet Day has 190 reviews in the last 12 months. And it looks like it's "Prime" shipping but will take a little longer than typical.

i have this one and the newer 280w version hp brought out. i found this 230w version to be more reliable and consistent in allowing my 3 monitors to function properly.

this version also had the speaker module add-on which was great if you wanted to conference call or just needed a better speaker for your laptop.

I own one of these - I use it to switch between work (HP elitebook and Macbook Air M1) and personal computers utilizing 2 monitors. I simply unplug the Thunderbolt cable and plug into whichever laptop Im using (also works on Galaxy phones running off the phones OS - Keyboard and Mouse also works. Browse web or check mail all from a "desktop" set up). The small downside depending on how you use it, is that the Thunderbolt cables are both front facing. So depending on your set up, you may not like they are in front, everything else is behind the dock. Been using this for the last 4 years and love it. The benefit of having it up front is that I can easily charge anything USB-C and not having to dig around for it in the back to switch USB-C devices.

Yep, have bought items off of Amazon many times like this. Since it's shipped by Amazon, and includes all their 'standard' order niceties (30 day free returns, tech support, etc.), I'll give it a go. And (the ProPrime) is 'real' Prime shipping (arriving tomorrow AM - 36 hrs after order).

I've worked with these. I could plug in 2 D-port monitors through 2 D-ports, and another monitor through a USB-C to D-port adapter - so 3 monitors total.

Just keep in mind that this docking station supports outputs to 2 DisplayPort monitors. If your computer's video card can handle more, then go for it. I personally am able to output to the 2 external monitors and my workstation. I have all of my peripherals connected to the dock and only the USB-C and power connected to my HP Zbook (company issue).

I also found that USB-C to HDMI adapters work well with this docking station in parallel with the external monitors paired up to the docking station.

This works well for desks where you're mobile as you can swap for any other laptop (for example your personal) that has USB-C and your external monitors and peripherals are immediately available without the hassle of plugging stuff back in.
