I've had this for a couple of years now and I use it as both a fire pit and grill! It works very well. I bought it for $199 from REI. However, after a few years of use I believe that it is over priced even at $160. I do recommend the product!

Note that this does not come with the carry case. Your trunk will be very ashy without it.

Costco had these on clearance last year for $100, which was a steal. I like it quite a lot and actually prefer it over other smokeless options due to the fact that you can actually see through the sides to see the wood burning, more like an open fire pit. Never cared for the enclosed smokeless pits that much since, while they do a great job of being smokeless, don't actually have the feel of a campfire since you can't really see the wood burning unless you really add a ton of wood. I bought the carrying case and it's very nice. My only concern is how well the Biolite will hold up after years of use since it is enameled steel.
This is exactly how I feel about SoloStove and the likes which I have debated for ages and still haven't bought. They look nice but other then warmth and making smores the whole reason to have a fire pit is to relax and watch the fire.

We would never travel with it, would probably use it on our Trex deck but it looks like they make a mat just for that (to reflect heat). I'm really tempted to try this one out.

I bought this from REI at ~$200. It's well worth it in my opinion if you want either:
  1. Portable fire pit/grill
  2. Have a small space at home and want to set up a fire pit here and there
Some people will joke that the battery power is unnecessary, but the powered fan helps reduce the amount of smoke. It also makes it so you can control the temp of the grill better. The coal/wood tray also is pretty nice because it can hang slightly higher on hooks, or sit on the base of the pit directly (or one on the hook and one on the base), which provides you varying heat which is useful for cooking.

My typical usage is to set it up, grill up some food (Korean short ribs, steaks, yakitori, whatever), then after I'm done I'll throw in a log and enjoy the fire.

The only negative thing I have to say about this is I wish the fire pit was a bit bigger. It can only fit a few tiny logs or a giant one.

Bought this when it came out. REI had them on clearance briefly. I think I paid $140 or so. Even at that price, I didn't find this a good product. It's a bit too small for standard 16-18" wood and the battery pack would get very warm after a longer burn. I didn't want to risk a battery explosion so back it went.

Which one of the thousands of these fictional characters shall we not stray? Wouldn't want to buy the wrong fire pit….

What do you think would be the most reasonable price for this? Is it big enough for people to gather around?

My chiminea broke recently and I need some kind of replacement fire pit for my back yard.
NO!
unless it's a backyard the size of postage stamp.

I have one of these and I love it.

I use it to grill all the time and occasionally have a little campfire.

It speeds up the process for charcoal big time.

I would sell my house if my neighbor bought this. How is this remotely safe?

Said while instantly communicating silently (via symbols) into a magic glowing window to people you assume are real on the other side of the planet.

Honestly 100 years ago people were probably using powered fans* for many types of fires but the idea of computers was not even fathomable.

*The Bluetooth part seems a little silly though.

Seem unsafe, heat and battery near to each other. Seem like a mini ticking bomb. I would stay away from it

I purchased this for $169.99 in 2018. It is still working great today and I have had no issues with the battery, fan, etc. Solid buy if your needing a portable wood burning fire pit.
