Another Lenovo special with the 300nit display. The 500nit option is such a small price bump ($25-35?), but they keep using these deals to dump the 300nit panels.

Seems like a solid deal for Zen 4 and RTX 4070. Re: display brightness, 500 nit QHD panels on older legions only had ~1000:1 static contrast ratio, but this may have changed in 2022-2023. Source: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Len...931.0.html

I need a laptop that I can effectively use outside on a sunny day. What nit rating should I look for?

I have the 5800H / 3070 variant and it's an awesome machine. My only concern about these 4070 units is the step backward in memory bus width. The 3070 is 256-bit and the 4070 is 192-bit. Optimizations do help but a slimmer bus is a slimmer bus and easier to saturate.

The 2-year warranty refurbs on ebay have better specs at $1000. I don't understand why these MFer's keep kneecapping Ryzen builds.

You'd want at least 400nits, but 500 would be better. You need to do a custom build to get the 500nit panel, unfortunately, and those are usually a lot more expensive than their prebuilt ones.

Small bump on MSRP yes. But Lenovo MSRP are illustrative. If 500 nits never go on sale then it's actually priced $$$ more

Completely agree. Frown Anything under 400 nits is a deal breaker for me.

It's on par until you do qhd/4k resolution, then it isn't.
