Note - many existing card holders get denied for reloadables even with 800+ credit score. Read previous threads for details.

So I've applied and got approved for many of the $40 off $40… it's not worth it. The coupon only applies to items sold by Target and you'd be surprised how much of their inventory is actually from 3rd parties. There's also a ton of restricted items in the fine print. I wouldn't sign up for this again.

Probably a stupid question, but does the reloadable RedCard count as any form of bank card? Everyone keeps saying it's like a gift card, but is it actually a debit account that connects to your normal financial history? Will it count as another bank line for reporting purposes?

Man, that exclusions list seems to grow every time this deal gets posted.

I wonder if there's a way to only sort by items that are eligible for the promo.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is NO credit pull on the Reloadable card.

Damn, look at the exclusion list of items/brand you can't use the coupon on. It probably be easier if they just list the items you can use it on. Wow. Smarter to apply for regular credit card that offer $200 when spending $500.

Edit:: capital one has a promo if you open a checking account end enter promo code "BONUS350" you get $350. You need to setup direct deposit and not made an account with them in the last 2 years to qualify

It is basically a bank account. But to be precise it's more of a cash management account by Target's third party bank. Does it count as bank reporting line, I have no idea.

This is so wrong. I've gotten coupons three times from all three cards. Used them online and in store. Six times. Never had an item rejected. If you like food and health products and most of the stuff Target sells it's totally worth it. This has come up before and it's a bizarre complaint. It's free money.

Reloadable and Debit cards don't have a credit pull. However, can no longer double dip the coupon.
Last time I did this got $40 off a video game and $40 off an Xbox controller. People complaining there's "nothing to buy" should try a little harder.. Can always use groceries

I agree with this. Done it three times, had no problems with exclusions. Mostly bought food, home, health, baby stuff (aka groceries.) Free money indeed, especially if you do the debit, which had no credit pull.

I'm aware the Target debit card doesn't initiate a credit check through the 3 credit bureaus, but does anybody know if it does any verifications through Chexsystems?

Don't believe it. I tried back earlier in the year and was told there was no such promotion even though it was still in the weekly ad for the next two weeks.

As far as I'm aware you can get the Reloadable card and then.. just never activate it. Mine has been sitting there untouched for a year and I already used the free $40.

Also, if an item has additional discount then it wouldn't apply as expected. As the $40 discount applies before any other discounts are applied.
