Somehow got it for $2.51 after coupon and subscribe and save. Amazon gave some crazy offer like 45% off or something if I switch to subscribe and save.

Just for reference... I think Aldi's brand of individual packets is somewhere around 70 cents each. Target has 6.25oz of El Paso seasoning for $3.79. Pretty good deal.

Aldi brand is $0.39 and Kroger brand is currently on sale for $0.49 (regular price is $0.55).

If you have a spice shop in your city, try their taco spices. Once you get hooked on theirs, these packet spices taste like crud. If there's a local mexican/brazil restaurant that you love, see if they sell their in-house spice. Wwwaaayyyyy less sodium. Walmart's brand used to be pretty good when Williams made it for them, but whoever makes it now is bleh.

Stales spices, too much sodium and corn starch that makes you taco meat pasty. No thank you. Not for me. Taco seasoning is so much easier to make, stores well and tastes so much better.

Just google "copy cat Taco Bell spice recipe". Takes a whole 2 seconds.

Strangely enough the recipes that have you add a bit of flour seem to be the most true to taste. That is, if you enjoy the way Taco Bell flavors their food

The large plastic container taco / Tex-Mex seasoning by other brands seems more cost effective, no(?)

An easy substitute is to make your own at home. We make a large batch and store it in a tupperware jar (been doing it for years using the recipe for years). Feel free to control your own salt content and no filler. Plus, in our household, we double the cayenne pepper to give our taco meat a little more kick. This really does take just like the OEP taco seasoning.

Same. I have also been adding a little bit of the powdered lime packets that are usually for water, I like it and I haven't had any complaints yet..
I did take a look at this though and technically for the price it is cheaper per ounce than even a large jar of chili powder , it is a hundred grams of sodium per ounce of taco meat once added but u could add other spices and seasonings to it to tempet that.

Actually made this yesterday per directions, and nobody liked it. Totally killed the meat taste - probably better to use half or less...
