Need a table saw but my basic understanding is without a rack and pinion fence it will blow

Not really just means you need to check the fence before cuts if you move it. Best method I've found is to make marks where you saw blades cut will be and then you can easily measure from the mark to the fence quickly and do this on the front and back and it probably takes 20 seconds of setup to make a change for cuts.
