Note: if you compare this to a 6 lbs boat anchor you're going to think it's a bad deal. This is
not the gaming laptop you're looking for.
The
entire point of this machine is it's thin and super light and has amazing battery life for creators. 2.86 lbs and up to 15 hr vs 6lbs for the average comparable deal.

Super light laptop, 10-12 hour battery life under light use, GPU for extra performance for "content creators"/programmers/CAD/fractals/Lego Studio, important stuff
Probably good for some games, too, I dunno, I can test it with Civ V later today if that helps.
I thought it was a good deal at $1700 for a laptop this light with a GPU and great battery life so I ordered it. Now the price has dropped $200 8/7/23 through 8/11/23.

Non-touch-screen so not good for those who smear oils all over their screens like barbarians, but good for battery life.

Isn't non-touch screen better for fingerprints since the screen will not need to be touched?

It seems the i5 version has only 40% of the battery life of the Gram ("up to 6" vs 15hr) so probably even less life for the i7 version. [And I assume that value is for completely idle, so 1/2 to 1/4 of that for real use.]
Also half the RAM,
Half the storage
But the most important spec of all for me: it weighs twice as much. Note Lenovo doesn't even admit what it weighs, usually that means 6lbs+ Reviews say it weighs 5 lbs, (I assume that is with the GPU but unclear) vs. 2.86 lbs for the Gram.
Another spec they hide is the thickness, but it appears to be a bit thicker.
All to save $225
But: newer GPU.
If comparing cost of components with no consideration of weight or portability - using it only at home and plugged in or just for games - that's probably a better deal.
But I wasn't even considering laptops with that little ram or storage and no where NEAR that heavy. And I want long life on flights or at conferences or working in a lab/makerspace or who knows where. With a GPU for a little use every now and then.
So far the Gram seems to have a pretty long battery life, I need to test it more but my flight it tomorrow...

I had previously found a Zenbook Duo open box. I loved my super light zenbook back in the day, it was like a feather and fit in a manilla envelope, but this one... oy. 4lbs at only 14" and it seems battery life is under 3 hours with very very light use, like looking at pictures on the SSD, not even downloading. And just doing that on battery was laggy, that's with an i9, 32GB and a 3070. I played Civ V on it and used 55% of the battery in 50 minutes. That was with the 2nd monitor off and brightness way down. Also, the charger is 2.2 lbs, almost as much as the Gram! And it uses a PC power cord, so heavy and bulky. I do not recommend for travel. But damn it was sexy.
The cheapest I see it for when searching forums is $1700. And that was a good price, other stores sell it for $1900, $2000+

One thing that may be of interest to others: folks sometimes complain about experiencing a lot of CPU thermal throttling on their LG Grams. As I understand it, LG tends to install cooling systems that are somewhat underpowered for the CPU's they're using, in order to keep the weight down.
However, this specific model of the LG Gram has two fans instead of one, in order to support the dedicated GPU. One user on Reddit claimed that it seemed to him that the laptop experienced better cooling for that reason.
Not sure how true that is - it didn't seem like he'd run any formal benchmarks - but perhaps that counts as an additional benefit of buying this model with the GPU.
