Nice! I paid like $600 each for 2, 3 day GA tix to Miami this year.
Can't say I'd go to another F1 race. Unless you find a spot in the shade with a giant tv screen in front of you, you really miss a LOT of the action. My plan was to listen to the Sky Sports commentators over my headphones to "audibly" follow the action, but it was like 15-20 seconds behind what was actually going on live. Might go to qualifying only next year if I find a really cheap ticket. Race day was SLAMMED in Miami. Practice and qualifying days were much easier to get around and see everything.

In Austin's defense, they have some very good GA viewing areas. There's a large space between the start-finish grandstand and turn 1 grandstand that you can actually see the start and the run-up to turn 1. You can pay extra and go up to the tower. The only issue is weather. It can get very muddy in the rain. There's no shade. One other thing: I noticed some cheap Miami GP tickets on Stub-Hub last minute. Having said all that, Montreal is the best F1 experience but GA sucks.

I hate the fact that DTS has made ticket prices unaffordable for the middle class. Miami wanted $800+ for a 3 day ticket 😭

What was the sound like when the F1 cars pass by? Would like to go to Miami race one day.
They were definitely louder than what you'd expect having heard them get quieter on tv over the years as engine rules/technology has evolved, but the Porsche cup cars were deafening! I put in my Apple AirPods to block the noise on those.
I'd say go to if you afford it. It's not any worse than what ppl pay to go to Disney world and stand in line for an hour to ride its a small world. Lol.

If F1 is too expensive check out IndyCar. Laguna Seca is my personal favorite. Race tickets start around $95 and include parking. Monterey county is beautiful, although it's not close to any major airports.

I tend to agree. Don't go to an F1 race to "see" the race unless seated in a shaded, prime spot and have a giant, reliable tv in front of you.
I went for the overall experience. To see and hear the cars in person. I was lucky enough to actually/accidentally walk onto the track and get a partial view of the drivers during the podium celebration. That's why I paid the minimum for a 3 day general admission ticket. To wander and take it all in. Not to "see" the race. That's best done at home 👍🏼
I agree. I went to Monza to see the race in 2021. Incredible experience, lots of action, especially with Verstappen battling Hamilton, and parking his car on top of Hamilton. It happen right in front of where I was sitting. Daniel Ricciardo winning the dang thing. Yet, with all that, I think watching it from home would've been better for the race itself. I had a metal fence in front of me, and was cooking on those bleachers. The entire thing felt disorganized, food and water was too far, and too much of a hassle to get to from our seats. Ugh, and now I'm remembering how terrible that taxi to get back to the hotel was.

It's really cool to be there, I won't deny it. Yet, the experience of being at home with my air conditioner on while eating a hamburger, while actually seeing the entire race from the entire track, that has to be the best way to watch it. Of course, unless you pay 10-20 grand on the padlock vip experience. So yea , I 100% agree with you.

But it's not F1. I can't watch an indycar race. It's either a demolition derby or boring going in circles.

Laguna Seca is definitely not an oval. It's a very cool track. And there are several drivers from either F1 or the formula feeder series. But I get it.

As for Indycar, the choice of a windscreen rather than a halo ruins the view of the driver by fans and the cars barely still qualify as "open wheel". The races on ovals and street circuits wind up being yellow flag, wreck-fests, not dissimilar to nascar.

T12 was amazing for the speed. I was there for practice that year so I didn't see any overtakes. T4 (and T9) was pretty good for seeing the cars during the race, but all the action was happening on T12 LMAO
