Harbor Freight has this foam kneeling pad discounted to $3.86 available in-store till 8/17.

I recently used this while working on my car for hours and it was extremely useful. Saved my knees. Very sturdy and a single piece so not much can go wrong with it unless abused. Easy to wash. Very light.

I would ignore the usual anti-HF votes on this one. Smilie

I am a heavier guy, I do a lot of vinyl floors and I think just the opposite. These work awesome for me, and the HD ones just squish all the way down to nothing. Before I found this one I would just fold up the first box the flooring came in and used that, but it would smash flat after a few runs, then I would fold up another, and typically go through 4 or 5 folded boxes per job. I hate knee pads, and feel this harbor freight one works awesome.

I find this better for balance while working as the squishy ones tend to make me wobble as I shift weight around. Over about 8 hours of work on my car using these often, knees showed no pain or strain whatsoever. Previous time, I had used a normal seat cusion and my knees were shot. It is also thick enough that it evens out any irregularities on the ground well. Also if you are using it over rough gravel, softer ones get chewed up quickly.

But I do understand what works for people may be different. So,definitely try them out at the store before purchase.

If you are using it as a seat or some other use than working on your knees, a softer foam might be better suited.



These are too small and too thick for that purpose and don't provide good balance. I am not sure the texture will be good on bare knees. Just a regular yoga mat or a foam mattress would work better for that use. If you want firmer ones for balance, you may want to try these.

These can be arranged in different lengths and widths. These are too thin for kneeling work but you can pile two of them for that purpose.

These are pretty hard. In all honesty not the most comfortable for me to kneel on. However I think this is a pretty good idea and may work well for what you're suggesting.

Personally I find them to be very useful for work that requires me to kneel. I have also used them for padding to put heavy items on when working on them or to protect surfaces... I ended up purchasing several when they first came out. My wife finds them to be much better than the gardening ones sold at local hardware stores and big box stores and they are half the price (even when not on sale) and twice the size.

Depending on how "squishy" it is, this could potentially be used for tool boxes by cutting out holes or outlines for specialty tools cheaper than the dense foam pieces normally used for this.

How would this work with bare knees? I'm wondering if this can effectively be used for quad stretches (protecting the legs), similar to high-density foam.

I understand the issue with it being firm, but as a heavy guy that's been doing a lot of floor work lately, I personally prefer the firmness.

If you're not too heavyset, consider the anti-fatigue/gym foam floor puzzle pieces. I think they come in 10-12 packs or something. I've been using them for sometime now, and can build it as big or small as I require. Can also just throw a few around the car if I'm having to move around (like say from axle to axle etc).

This block looks better though if you need it to move WITH you while you're working due to the handle.
