Impressed with this cam and how effective the solar charging works. Our deployment captures approx 20-30 vids x 30 seconds a day and averaging about 120mah of solar charging, keeps the battery topped off at 80-95% charge. Between a legacy Arlo deployment and later traditional Eufy cams, appreciate NEVER having to get up on a 20ft aluminum extension ladder to periodically recharge. The only downside is that you do need to deploy in an area with decent sun exposure, but even in a partly sunny spot on the north side of the house, it's getting plenty of charge. I did prefer tucking previous cameras under an eave, to shield from weather and for better aesthetics, but the zero maintenance here is absolutely worth the trade off.
3 months in, no water damage vs S230 (S40), you just lose the spot light feature with this S220.
also 3 months in so far so good, no complaints. cam is in a high traffic area and remains at 99% battery day after day despite setting video to max 60 second length at 2K res.

this is not the case for me. battery only charges if you put it in power saving recording which is pretty much damn near useless cause it misses a crap ton of events.
If you choose optimal surveillance/customize recording, it drains the battery like crazy.
but other than battery life issue and that solar power does nothing unless you choose the battery saving recording option that WILL charge your battery about 3% only, this does pick up events if you choose optimal surveillance/customize recording. Other than that, the solar charging is a gimmick.
I have also provided an image that shows the steady decline AND the solar power charging mAh. I also put it where the sun is the strongest at my place so im wondering how your settings are.
EDIT : I also paid $89 for this camera on prime day so i think this price of $100 is a rip off especially considering you're going to have to take down the camera to charge it every so often.

Boo on Homekit or i'd buy 3 of them.
Since it's battery, it sometimes only captures the action 1/2 way into it. Not the best but usually acceptable.
