Depends how far you're sitting from it. This though has 120fps, displayport (which a tv won't have), freesync and gsync compatibility, anti-glare, etc to make it more gamer-friendly. I will say though that unless you still have the tv at least 3 feet away from you to go with a 42" instead. IMO a 48" is too large to use on a desk.

I have 2x 27" 4K IPS panels. Bought a 48" C2, too big, text hard to read. Bought a 42" C2, slightly too big, text still not as clear as I'd like. Bought a 32" G3223 4K IPS, pretty good size, super clear text, not really any better than my 27" panels, just a bit bigger. My desk is 3ft deep, so I can play around with distance.

A good IPS panel is a 7/10 for graphics and contrast but a 10/10 for clarity.

A WOLED (WRGB OLED) is a 11/10 for graphics but a 5/10 for text clarity.

Text fringing is definitely a problem because the LG OLEDs do not have standard RGB subpixels.

A traditional monitor uses Red, Green & Blue subpixels (RGB) to make a nice square, millions of those squares make the image you see.

WOLED uses White, Red, Green & Blue subpixels (WRGB). This means borders sometimes have color fringing and makes fine items like text difficult to read because the letters have red/green edges and so it looks kind of fuzzy and is hard to read.

I'm debating keeping the 42 C2 or going back to my 27" 4Ks. The extra pixel density of the 27" does make it look a lot clearer too.

The 120Hz, Gsync and gorgeous colors make the OLED look amazing…it's just the text...

The Dell G3223 is really great too but it's not really $600 better than my 27"…

Is this monitor is glossy or matte display?

I know the LG OLED C2 and C3 is glossy.

I had the 42 C2 before going down to a 32 inch due to desk real estate. These things are nice to game on but make sure you have a wide desk as well as the dept for it.

agree, I can barely handle 34 ultrawide with my current desktop. I think the depth has to be at least 35 inch + for 42-48 monitor.

Seems like a good deal but I would need a massive desk
Not really, just a deep one.

This is really good if you have a sim frame rig, the resolution and size pay off a lot.. a great alternative to a multi-monitor setup or VR.

Matte as mentioned previously. I prefer glossy...colors pop more and the reflection mitigation is pretty darn good. My C1 has been nothing short of awesome for PC gaming.

But this panel does have slightly higher refresh and DP connection.

thanks for this post, I had no idea LG continued the WRGB with WOLED which is why I avoided them in the TV space for a while. They are pretty much the standard right now for OLED so I wonder who will have a true OLED

rtings has a good review on this:

If you're going to use this primarily for office work and occasional PC gaming, you might find the OLED text clarity issues problematic.

If you're using it for anything other than gaming you're going to hate it imo. I stuck with an IPS monitor for this very reason. The screens are just too big.
A good range for monitors is 100 to 150 PPI. This one is 92 so it's not far off.

Had this for about 2 weeks and returned it. DisplayPort went bad. Tested multiple cables, everything. Got the C2, lost the DP, but I've had no issues with it.

I preferred the matte finish on this better than the gloss on the C2 initially but moved some lights in the room and got used to in after a few days, don't even think about it anymore. The colors do seem to pop more with the gloss on the C2 like others have mentioned.

I think the LG C2 for $800 might be a better choice if you can find one cause the AI chipset and Dolby audio?

Meanwhile I have to spend $500 more to get a sony 2022 48 tv just for the brand name and because it's a tv instead of monitor. Then I got my best buy plus where I will have 60 days to price match so hopefully it comes down below this by then...
