Looks like it's the same price at Best Buy (but no credit) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-u...Id=6510480

Sorry if noob question, but at this size, would it make more sense to buy a similarly priced TV as opposed to monitor if we were just gonna hook up via HDMI and did not need to use DisplayPort?

Depends how far you're sitting from it. This though has 120fps, displayport (which a tv won't have), freesync and gsync compatibility, anti-glare, etc to make it more gamer-friendly. I will say though that unless you still have the tv at least 3 feet away from you to go with a 42" instead. IMO a 48" is too large to use on a desk.

it is a good deal, best buy has the same price but out of stock, this is anti glare and has a display port makes more sense if you want it for a PC than a console also it is anti glare wich makes more sense for bright environments

I didn't try this specific model but text is not pleasant to read on an WOLED, it will be even more evident because of the screen size and low PPI

If you're using it for anything other than gaming you're going to hate it imo. I stuck with an IPS monitor for this very reason. The screens are just too big.

I have the 42 inch C2 that I use for homework and gaming. I can tell you the the text would take some time to get use to…. IPS would be better, but for gaming you would love the OLEDs

I use a 55-in Samsung 4K curved TV at my desk for work and gaming. It's a great solution.

I have had this monitor since November ('22) and I have no problem reading text, and I am very satisified with the clarity. If I am not working or sleeping, I am staring at it 90% of the time. Cut the cord back in 2008, so everything I watch is via PC. I only play one game currently with an aging 980Ti, so I run it at 1440. But watching shows in 4k/HDR mode is night and day from my old Dell 2405 (2005) that this replaced. I paid a $1000 and Best Buy had a blackout period for price matching through Black Friday so I missed getting $100 off.
For reference, my eyes are 28" from the screen while typing this, about 36" while leaning back, and about 7' when watching from the couch.

Agreed. I had the 48" C1, and definitely prefer the 42" C2 size.
