    I actually didn't use the SmartThings app on mine, but I read that's how many people fixed theirs. Some people complained it automatically updates the speakers and they complained the volume was lower after updating. I used the remote that came with the soundbar to adjust mine.

    It's been a minute since I did it, but I believe that remote has a gears icon which should be options. Clicking that should let you cycle through some more options on the soundbar itself. Eventually, it will display rear or something to that effect. That will let you adjust the volume all the way up on those independently. Hope that helps! If I find a guide online, I'll send it your way.

    EDIT: I found my review on Best Buy and Samsung responded on how to adjust the volume! Here you go:

    Hi KBURNS,

    Thank you for purchasing the Samsung SWA-9500S Wireless Rear Loud Speakers to accompany your HW-Q700A

    Once this kit is connected to a compatible Samsung soundbar, the soundbar remote is then used to control the volume level of the rear kit. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.

    Also, make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote. If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote.

    You might want to try turning off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. Depending on your soundbar model, you may or may not have DRC.

    You sure it was a 9200. The 8500 series is plagued with that problem. I have these attached to a q6r and they work excellent.

    I have HW-Q6CR 5.1 sound bar (2019 model). Will these work with it as well? Amazon description says "ONLY compatible with Q600B, Q60B, S60B, S61B & S50B Soundbars from Samsung. They will not work with Non-Atmos soundbar systems from Samsung."

    This is a known issue. You can either use the SmartThings app to control the volume or the remote with your soundbar to control rear speaker volume. Once you turn that up, you should hear them better.

    Can't speak to these speakers directly, but the 9500s have been really solid. Easy setup, and though the default volume is way too low, it's simple to raise their base volume.

    It depends on your sound bar model. For HW-S60A/B, it only works with SWA-9100S or SWA-9200S. I got a pair of 9200S open box in excellent condition from BB for ~$65 last December. It is decent in certain audio mode and weak output otherwise. I have to adjusted the surround output up all the way. Anyway, I got the HW-S60B for ~$130. So the whole setup is only $200 with the 9200S included. Still a great value for the setup.
