The price is so enticing, and I got a couple of these last time with the older style fish grip (the black one seems to use the old style) and the pliers are useless to me. The split ring style pliers really make the pliers useless for removing hooks from smaller fish or fish hooked more deeply. That is the issue with that style in general. My real issue is the locking part on the pliers. It's loose, so they will lock themselves when using if the lock part is on top. The blades aren't very good for cutting.
The lip grippers are small and don't feel sturdy.
Bottom line, garbage at a low price is still garbage.

In my personal experience, I find that they're worth about $10. So while not a steal of a deal, they've served me pretty well. I find the line cutter works well on braid and flouro for at least a few months (I've done 20-65lb braid and 20lb flouro), and for application of split rings and hook removal, they've done fine. True enough, if a fish is hooked deeper, they're pretty much useless, but that's with any pair of split ring pliers, so maybe try hemostats? Regarding the lock, it does what it wants. Plenty of times I have clamped down to get a hook out and the lock has swung closed on me, causing me to just drop the pliers with the bait, it's a hassle. If you're in a kayak or similar vessel without much extra room, and need something that works perfectly every time, I wouldn't recommend these. That being said, I keep 2 pair in my boat, because for $10, they're fine for swapping out hooks at a moments notice or retying after big fish or particularly bad snags, and then I just pitch them when they're shot. They last about 5 months of twice a week use for me.

Made the mistake of buying from KastKing before, they make the customer pay for return shipping.
Tons of similar pliers on Amazon etc for the same price.

I'm looking for a good hook remover for when the hook is deep. Any suggestions?
Absolutely no more Kastking garbage for me. So much of it is just the worst of the worst.
That being said the Sharky III reel has been the most buttery smooth reel at any price that I have ever owned. Unfortunately, it lured me down the Kastking rabbit hole to discover everything else they make were designed by Satan to frustrate mankind.

For this price, for both pieces, no. However, I can't imagine garbage from Temu would be much worse. For good quality pliers, I like Danco pliers. They usually do a half off special on or near Black Friday. For grippers, boga grips used to be the shizzle, but I don't recall seeing that brand on shelves in a long time. They were very pricey though. It also depends on what you're catching. An 80 pound catfish vs a 3 pound bass are also going to put different stress on a gripper. The inexpensive plastic floating lip grippers are decent usually, but you have to ask yourself "am I willing to miss the fish of a lifetime because of bad equipment"? Then again, you have to temper that with "am I really going to catch the fish of a lifetime"?

I've heard the long nose pliers are good for that. I don't have any experience with this specific brand but these are $10 on Amazon with good reviews.
