I like the little magent bowl but the batteries are not even worth free. I put them in my door lock and two days later I had to replace them again. Got one day out of them on my hose timer. Go for the bowl or measuring tape instead
These batteries aren't designed to be used by you, but for you to gift them to your enemies as peace offerings.
If one person complains about the cost of gas to go pickup completely free items (like on previous free HF threads) I'm going to lose my shit 🤣

I am still using the Snap-On 3/8 inch drive ratchet that my grandfather used in his tool and die shop over 60 years ago. Your Pittsburgh ratchet will not still be working 60 years from now unless you lock it away for 55 years.
If you're so confident of that, then let's make a friendly wager. Send me a message 60 years from today. If my Pittsburgh ratchet has broken, I'll send you a $10 Amazon gift card. If it's still working, then you send me a $10 Amazon gift card.

Maybe you had one tape angled which caused the difference. I've had 0 problems with their tape, it's just as accurate as my Stanley and Milwaukee tapes, the HF tape is pretty flimsy compared to my others but for small projects or a throw away set to keep in the car, they are great.
I like when he said "famously inaccurate" and the famous was his one questionable comparison. lol wut

1 do you get the item you prefer from the shelf or do they give you at checkout?
2 do you have to provide a phone# or something? (to enforce the one-per-day limit)
Get it from the shelf. For ITC members you provide you phone and any available coupons will automatically get applied

Unfortunately a lot of older tools are not hte same as their newer modern named tools. Craftsman is a good example of it. Used to be a good reliable tool name. But someone bought the name and replaced it with lesser quality. Hold onto that Snap-On, because they literally don't make them like the used to.

I thought that I would get the batteries for a clock from ikea that took very little power.
Stopped working correctly after a week

I also have a brand new Snap-On ratchet that was a replacement for one I bought used at a yard sale, and have not noticed any drop-off in quality. As for Craftsman, it was a victim of Sears overall failure and related cost-cutting. Craftsman is owned by Stanley Tools, who also has put cost over quality. Brands like Snap-On, Mac, Cornwell, Wright, etc., are more expensive because they haven't cut corners to achieve a lower retail price.

Myself. Went into store and unrolled two identical tape measures side by side to about 7 ft, and they didn't agree by up to half a inch.

Take it back until you get an accurate one. Pittsburgh hand tools have a lifetime warranty...

True, they've supposedly improved their quality quite a bit. Also the prices have skyrocketed to the point where it's comparable to Home Depot and Lowes brands like Craftsman, Husky, Gearwrench, Irwin, Ideal, Kobalt, etc.

It all depends on the tool of course, but for the real junk-tier -- Walmart's in-house brands are equivalent.
Walmart's HyperTough is pretty bad for ratchets. Plain stuff like sockets, angle squares, levels, etc. are probably okay.

HART is Walmart only, but they are a division of Techtronic Industries, who also makes Milwaukee Tool, Ryobi, AEG (Ridgid Power Tools), Hoover, and others.
