"Pure" extension ladders always have a special type of feet that allow "digging" into the ground. This "convertible" ladder just have a rubber feet and on unstable soil/ground/mulch plus inadequate friction, the feet may slip out and cause the ladder to fall.

it is just an inherent risk with this type of ladders, not specifically this brand.

How do these compare to Gorilla ladders at Home Depot? I think they both are heavy and should have same quality build. Gorilla ladders rarely go on sale and are expensive. Any other differences?

I'm in the same boat and just received mine yesterday. Costco has a price adjustment request on their customer service page online. I just submitted a request to adjust the price myself. https://customerservice.costco.co...com-orders
Price adjustment works for 30 days only. Please keep in mind

"It wasn't locked!" Is what the guy said as the ladder collapsed to the floor, but he was OK, not too bad of a fall (but huge fail)

Thank you for sharing. I got it at store for 109 without tax (MA) this morning. I need to spray some chemical to kill the moss on my roof.

TL;DR Can do almost anything, but it's bad at everything.

I bought one of these 15 years ago when I built my house. Thought I was being clever getting a step ladder that's an extension ladder. All the contractors working there thought I was crazy (I should have asked them for advice before I bought it)

The damn thing is so heavy that it's dangerous to use as an extension ladder unless you have two strong adults on hand to slowly and carefully get it into place. As a stepladder its very stable but, once again, so heavy and bulky that it's a huge pain to move.

Mine almost never leaves my shed at this point.

If you REALLY REALLY want this type of ladder they are good quality, I wouldn't worry about Little Giant vs Gorilla etc.

Thanks for the warning. Do you mind giving an image example of good type of feet?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank nyforever

I have one of these but the 26ft version with leg levelers. As others have said, these are extremely heavy and a beast to carry and move around (the 26ft one is a whopping 60lbs!).

Since I purchased one back in 2019, I have only used it a handful of times, and I dread using it because of how heavy and awkward it is. If my 8ft fiberglass step ladder is too short for the job, I literally think twice if I REALLY need to do what I was planning on doing before taking this beast out.

For price comparison, I purchased the 26ft one with leg levelers back in 2019 for $250. The same ladder is now available for $380. So for this 17ft one, if you can get it for $100ish, it's a great deal, if you want it vs a step ladder and an extension ladder separately.

I agree - it is very convenient on how much it can extend and different ways to use it. But it is very heavy, at least the one I have and is kind of a pain to extend and lock. Still a great ladder, but just heavy.

Wish I knew what to get that is lighter and as versatile. I don't think there is anything.
Thanks for this. I have an off brand home depot ladder that's similar. I was hoping that "megalite" meant something. I'll pass

you dont need a receipt at costco. or even walmart now. they can pull it from your costco membership. at walmart they can trace it from your own credit card.

My local Costco at least will only allow returns when pulled from a membership record like this, they won't perform price adjustments without the original receipt. Seems to be pretty common based on other threads here.

could be too many returns in your area. my local warehouses can adjust anything just by pulling up the purchase history form the membership card.
