I was in Costco last night and saw one of these, so I went ahead and purchased one. When I got home that evening I tried it out by comparing it with an Amker 900 lumen 6" tactical flashlight I already had. Let me just say, if this thing is 3,000 lumen, then my Anker must be about 4,000. Was not overly impressed with the flashlight. It's big, bulky, and a little on the heavy side. However it is all metal which is a plus. Plus I don't know why they give you the C batteries when it comes with a rechargeable battery. Overall I wasn't very impressed, I will probably just end up returning it.

Do you have the link for the Anker one?

It does have 3 levels of brightness with the lowest being 700 lumens… did you compare with the highest brightness level?

Funny, I have the exact same thing, my other flashlight is the 900 lumen Anker Bolder.
The link is:
Anker Rechargeable Bolder LC90 LED Flashlight, Pocket-Sized Torch with Super Bright 900 Lumens CREE LED, IPX5 Water-Resistant, Zoomable, 5 Light Modes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KH2JP5G
I was comparing the two this evening. I understand why you'd think the Anker is stronger, because it's able to focus its beam smaller than the Feit, so that smaller point of focus is brighter than the Feit.
The Feit is definitely much stronger, but yes that is a bit of a drawback, that you can't focus the beam so small. I wonder if it's by design, because it would possibly be dangerously bright if shone in people's eyes.

I agree with basically everything you said. Saw it yesterday and they had it where you could use it in the store. Was surprised that it wasn't nearly as bright as I'd expect from 3k lumen.

My store had an actual demo and yeah it really is just not that bright on any setting. They are definitely exaggerating the lumens.

It is very easy for manufactures to lie about lumen rating, even well known makers such as Fenix,Acebeam, Jetbeam…. Usually they would advertise the 3000 lumens or such without saying it is turbo only, that lasts maybe less than 5 minutes before dimming down. Just remember you are never going to get 3000 lumens for $30, at most maybe 800. For true 3000 lumens with a working time of 2 hours be prepared to pay at least $300.

I got one too and while I agree it's underwhelming, for $20 I'm holding onto it. I also have their Duracell battery disposal and that thing is bright as hell. Definitely curious about this Anker.

"Underwhelming" very accurately describes my, somewhat extensive, experience with nearly all products from Feit Electric from Costco. They must really provide the COSTCO buyers a strong value proposition because MANY of the Feit Electric products have been just a smidge above disposable garbage in our experience. By far the worst "brand" Costco offers it's members.

Amen. And I'm also not crazy about the lumen obsession in every single form factor in the first place. How do I read a paper map with 700 lumens? How do I trace a coolant leak when everything I point at is reflective bluish-white? What do I do with a 3-hour runtime if I'm stuck on I-95 for 30 hours in the winter?

Nevertheless, I'd buy one just to have a single thrower in the house, since my 10 year-old 26650 light hasn't reliably turned on with a single press of a switch for 8 years... except I'm now awash in Coast G455s.

Edit: I realize that my attitude here is definitely shaped by the price point I am shopping at. Can't be helped.

I completely agree. But it's still one step up from rolling the dice on OLYOLYOXNFRE from Amazon after the return period is up.

The one area where they excel (based on outside evals) is the Feit light bulbs, in particular the Enhance line (they carry them at other stores also) and i would put those in the top tier even among non value priced products. The smart bulbs are a bit sketchy imo, wifis not that stable, they dont really compete with Hue for brightness.

I'm honestly surprised by all the comments, its a super bright flashlight with 3 brightness setting that's rechargeable in a metal frame strong enough to use as a weapon, extra batteries and with costco return policy for 23 bucks.

Yeah, I bought one and am incredibly impressed at this price. They didn't even have to include the extra batteries but they did. I even love that this solid unit looks like a lightsaber Big Grin.

I really like mine. A bit surprised about some of the feedback here.
