I have bought a couple of these, and in spite of the "UV-protected resin," the plastic starts to crack and break after a couple of years in the sun, especially along the rim. Mine are still functional since it's mostly the rim that's affected so far, but they may not last much longer. They do work pretty well though. I've grown bell peppers and lemon cucumbers in them.

Hack to fix this. Put a wad of tule or a sponge in every water entrance and exit. Or put a few crumbs of a mosquito dunk in the basin.

These things are great, I've been using the same one for 3 years in direct sunlight.
This year in particular I've grown two of the largest autoflowers (gorilla glue) from seeds planted directly into this using potting soil. Seen here https://imgur.com/a/Q5ri1KY

You can fit 2 autos with the provided room, they are about 5 feet tall, and 3 feet wide. $25 for the container, $20 for seeds, $5 for soil, and $20 for nutrients = ~$75 for over a year of unlimited weed. Let's say I give the best Christmas cookies on the block.
Dump in water and nutrients every day and it's the cheapest setup.
Legal state (actual freedom), no worries here.

FYI, these are HEAVY when filled with soil. I planted broccoli and the rabbits in the area devastated them. So, I thought I would move it in the house. Extremely heavy and the wheel/caster broke during the process (about 30 feet in total).

I've been moving four of these in and out of the house and rolling them around my patio for several years. One of the planters had the wheels lock up last winter, but it still slides around fine.

Love them, and tempted to get a couple more at this price.

I am on my 5th summer with 2 of these used in full SC sun and have been really surprised by the quality and how well they have held up. Surprised to hear they are cracking at the rim… do you use the mulch cover like what came with it? Those cover the rim, so on mine that part gets very little sun.

These definitely are the best way I have found to grow vegetables in limited space. Everything I plant in the ground grows poorly, but my neighbors see these in the driveway and think I'm a master gardener.

I don't recommend this. The water sits in the bottom and I think mosquitos are breeding in it.

It's my understanding that mosquitos breed in still water.

I fill mine everyday and disturb the water.

When plants are small they don't use nearly as much water and can sit for up to a week before they need water, but that's typically in the cooler springtime for me. In the summer that water is not still for long (I actually hooked up a hose to auto-water daily)

I have two of these. I don't use the cover that they came with or the watering pipe. Right now, both of them are filled with bush beans that I literally planted in leftover leaves from last fall. There is no dirt in them at all and the beans are thriving. I water them a couple times a week until water pours out the bottom holes. I did not have luck with peppers or tomatoes in these but my area isn't the best for direct sun either.

I followed directions and my tomato plants grew quickly compared to the ones in pots or my raised garden beds. Unfortunately all of the tomatoes in this have blossom end rot while all of my tomatoes in my raised garden beds or pots are looking good. I'm adding more lime to see if it helps.
