I'd suggest the hotel - ITC Grand Chola. Stayed there for 3 weeks and it was an amazing place. Make sure you get the breakfast and ask for Masala Dosa.. it's excellent with a few cups of filter coffee. If this your first time to India be prepared for crazy driving, there are lines painted on the road but they don't mean anything.

Etihad is giving it cheaper and two bags to checkin. If you book through third party , it comes to $633.
I used google flights to search from JFK to MAA( CHennai).

Etihad gives free 3 day layover in Abu Dhabi at 3-4 star hotel for free. I think the Dubai carrier does 5 star.

Google the carrier and stopover or layover. All the middle east carriers give free hotel and extended layovers to of course spend money there. Delta will give nothing but at least the interiors aren't falling apart like Indian airlines.

Pretty common in the middle east. You get a super nice hotel in business and a regular in coach on many me carriers. Turkish airways does the same and xiamen airlines out of China also offered accommodation pre COVID not sure if they still do or if you can even visit China

I'm flying Turkish business class in a couple of months. Layover is around 10 hrs at IST, 9 pm to 7 am. Do they offer a hotel?
