This stud finder sucks. I own it and when i used it it was not as accurate as others. Just get the zircom and buy yourself some coffee with this money

The reviews on this are horrendous. And the button position is also very awkward. Been on yellow team, but their quality seem to depreciate anything outside of power tools.

Not a paid sponsor. The Franklin sensors stud finders have been the best I've ever used. There is no annoying calibration. You just stick it on the wall and it reads instantly. It also tells you where the exact middle of the stud is.

aaa batteries makes it an outlier.

based on that we could find out which chinesium model it's based on - although i doubt you could get it for a lower price than this.

Just get a magnetic stud finder. It works by finding the nail head or screw holding drywall to the stud.

They are all useless. Just look for outlet in wall and measure over 16" on studs, take flashlight and look for nail/screw pops on the wall, you will find some. Or do as pros do tap on the wall and you can feel/hear the stud.
If you measure from an outlet you need to know whether the box is attached to the stud on the left or right for that idea to work. Pros do not tap on the drywall, they use very useful electronic stud finders. This is the most outdated info ever.

I have one and it works very well, but it also assumes that the nail/screw was inserted directly in the center of the stud...

I just use a pile of small rare earth magnets - slide them up and down the wall roughly on the stud spacing, and leave one behind on whatever nail / screw you find. Repeat.

I have the franklin bar with all the lights. No calibration and shows the exact location of the stud. It just works. I tried these types of studfinders like the zircon. Totally worthless at finding studs with all the false readings.

Kids with their modern houses, assuming there's drywall...

You can certainly tap and feel/hear the difference where the studs are, but if you've got lath and plaster walls it can be difficult to localize. which is where the stud finder can help.

One thing you can do if the wall is big enough is to tap along and locate 3 or 4 studs, which will help you figure out the spacing since even if it's non-standard, it's probably even. You most certainly cannot assume it's 16", and if it's an older house you can't even assume how the outlet is mounted since it might be a retrofit/rewire. Some of those modern rules of thumb go out the window when your 2x4s are actually 2" x 4"! laugh out loud

I second this. Way better than all those single-point-detection models.
