if you are on a Hard Drive, once you swap to an SSD you will wonder why you did not sooner.

One thing I did do to give an additional tiny performance boost was to move my Windows Swap File to a SSD that isnt my OS drive...

I got this drive at ~$70 a few months ago. It works great for gaming. I can't tell any difference between it and my Samsung 980 Pro in terms of performance.

Definitely get this over DRAM-less alternatives such as Crucial P3. Windows actually uses RAM to cache the mapping table for DRAM-less drives, so you'll have less RAM available for other programs.

If you're on a strict budget, this is a very good drive for the money. It doesn't perform great with long, sustained writes...but would be a good choice for an OS or an extra drive for games.
It actually performs quite well with long sustained writes compared to other QLC drives and that was one of the reasons I got this previously. Many QLC drives drop to 100MB/sec, some even lower after cache is depleted. In fact, they are slower than disk drives. This 670p drops to above 500 MB/sec, which is faster than SATA and disk drives. The major downside to this drive is some incompatibility with the RTL9210 USB driver chip used in most USB 3.1G2 enclosures. It should transfer at 1 GB/sec but instead runs about 1/3rd of that speed. Been waiting for a firmware update for either or both the drive and/or the RTL9210 that fixes this issue. If it wasnt for that, it would be an ideal cheap reliable NVMe for an enclosure

I paid exactly twice this amount on a Black Friday deal. It's a decent drive- I use it as a backup for the main (faster) drive. For all but gaming (and maybe video editing or animation), I'd say, it's plenty fast enough.

What host are you testing with?

I have the smaller 1TB 670p in an enclosure and it gets over 900MB/sec (read) across the whole drive. I tested in Linux using Tiger Lake Thunderbolt 4 chipset over USB-C to the RTL9210.

Solidigm is the new company with all the Intel stuffs. But these 670p's are all probably new-old-stock. I doubt they're making new ones.

Interesting. So you have the 670p in an enclosure with the RTL9210 connected to your motherboard via a Tiger Lake TB4? If you dont mind, can you tell me what firmware you are running in your enclosure and the firmware on your 670p? If you dont have an enclosure and the 670p is on the motherboard, that is a different use case. I have it connected to a mac studio via different hubs including a TB3 hub and all are slow.

I thought the 1TB version of this was supposed to be slow and the Samsung 2TB for $10 more would be a better deal, no?

The Intel 670p is widely liked by many based on it's real world performance and price. Since Intel sold it's SSD business and Solidigm is now handling warranty for these they are selling lower than normal...I'd assume to get rid of inventory that still says Intel.

$65 is a great price for a 2TB with these specs, DRAM and QLC.

I purchased 2 when this deal was previously posted (previous sale ended 08/01..it stayed at $70 till now when it is again on sale.

I added a link to the previously posted deal in the wiki. It may answer questions you have.
