These really aren't that great. I've tried to use one as a backup source while hiking and it clogs pretty quick and hard to flush. This is the sort of thing you buy and chuck into your go back and expect never to use it.

Not for me. Sawyer squeeze filters are more reliable and practical in virtually any circumstance

Its not designed to filter out chunky water. Let the sediment settle, or pre filter out the sediment...ie strain through cloth first.

But isn't the ad cover art a dude sticking it in a dirty looking stream of water lol?

These were $20 bucks about 2 weeks ago last i saw. $10 bucks I would get 1 or 2 just for the hell of it.

These are great to stash in various bags and in a car or motorcycle. At this price, or even at the regular price, you can afford to spread them out. I have the Sawyer squeeze and a Katadyn, but unless I'm going camping, I'm just not going to have those with me on any sort of a regular basis.
