Still seems expensive for a weather station. I don't mind paying for quality but everything will eventually succumb to the Florida weather. About how long of a lifespan can you expect out of this station?

I use it more for the actual data not for the forecast. It provides more site specific data and my irrigation timer can use that as well.

I thought rachio already has an inbuilt weather sensor technology in their controllers ?

It basically provides hyper-local weather data. Rachio likes to skip a watering based on forecasted rain and actual rain. Sometimes if the weather station it is using for actual rainfall is not super close the actual rainfall can be off. I am not sure that you would notice a difference by adding this. I like knowing that the timer is using data from my location. I also just like knowing how much rain I received. Probably the reason I have had personal weather stations longer than my smart irrigation timer.

You can change where it pulls data in your rachio settings, if you have a neighbor with a weather station you could choose to use that over a more regional location.

Kind of inaccurate regarding the statement of integration with Rachio. You can actually do this with any weather station that reports to weather underground provided you tie the weather station name with Rachio.

Absolutely, I used the weather underground integration prior with my prior weather station. The integration this provides is direct with rachio. Is it any better? Probably not. It was easy to set up and cut out the weather underground step. I still synced this weather station with my weather underground profile to keep my history going.

It would appear the code is actually just "RW23-TEMPEST" without the exclamation point.

I've had a Tempest for a few years and really like it.

if you are in a microclimate the internet weather station it pulls from is useless. here in florida it can rain literally across the street and nothing here, the local weather station it pulls from is not even a mile away and wouldn't be accurate for me.

That said that's why i moved back to a normal timer, the on site weather station would be better for micro climates.

Vantage Vue for $100 more, then you have an amazing, very accurate weather station with a beautiful readout that also uploads to wunderground and also pairs with rachio.
