List from GM on this battery $224.95 plus core. A steal at this price.

Warranty is less desirable vs buying local. Have to call AC delco, given them all of your amazon info and then they will send a message to Amazon to refund the purchase. No exchange

My sister has a "similar Everstart from Walmart" in her 2016 Cruze Premier hat has actually outlasted the OEM AC Delco AGM (the so called "higher grade battery").

Many new cars have premature battery problems if they've sat on the lot for months before being sold, This common issue stems from parasitic draw that deep discharges the factory battery when the car isn't started for long periods of time. Thay usually can be jumped off and will work for a while, but their life is substantially shortened due to deep discharge and the resulting plate sulfation. I have no axe to grind with Everstart, but automotive service professionals will choose the ACDelco over the Everstart more times than not. When the ACDelco has a better price, it's kind of a no brainer. In this case, either way you're getting close to the best price available for a new AGM.

But, in our case, the AC Delco was NOT at a better price at the time of the purchase. And this is not the size battery for the vehicle in question so I'm not comparing to this price. The OEM battery lasted just under three years. The replacement has lasted over 4. When "automotive service professionals" start purchasing batteries for me, then I might consider their advice.

Just a comment about brands being better than others, "Flooded", "AGM", and "SLA" batteries are very old tech, and for the most part it's how new they are that makes the difference. Also it's hard to compare batteries outright because the environment makes the biggest difference. Lead-Acid Batteries have a lifespan of about 3-5 Years, I don't care what brand it is.

Also, there are really only a few auto batteries out there.
IE: Clarios, Exide, EastPenn/Deka are the main 3 in north America.

ACDelco is another that's bid out, they're no longer made by Delco, but are made by several companies, including Clarios (formally JCI/Johnson Controls), a lot coming from their S. Korea factories.

So basically, buying a brand that's "better" is hard to do, as the Brands are rarely made by one company anymore. Sears used to get a lot of business for Die Hard, it was marketing, the batteries were made by any one of the above companies off and on (and depending on size, market) for decades... therefore there was little, if anything similar across the line.

Buy a battery from a place that moves a lot of them (Walmart (Everstart) and Costco (Interstate) move a ton of batteries, (FYI Both are made by Clarios). The fresher they are the better they'll be, keep them charged, and they'll give you 3 to 5 years...

Yes some last longer, but that usually because they're stored in a garage, etc, a little less change in environement helps them (heat/cold kills batteries, and big swings are the worse).

Mechanics will choose what their distributor will give them because they don't like storing them, this is why Interstate is big with many mechanics, they're just JCI/Clarios, but they'd manage/deliver your stock as needed (Interstate is a Battery Distribution system, not a Manufacture). Many will choose an OEM battery for the sake of there will be little questions about it.

Mechanics won't have an account with Walmart, so you don't see them using Everstart, but they may in fact have an account with Ozark (O'Reilly), or Napa, and will get batteries from them. Nowadays most mechanics subscribe to a system that they enter the vehicle, and the job, and it finds the best choices for parts from the distributors they have accounts with... they are rarely "on the phone" for a single part.

Just note that Costco neutered their warranty further. It's 36 months pro-rated now.

I'm a true believer in interstate batteries. They just work, last a long time and are reasonably priced…all my priority categories.

The lead acid Interstate batteries sold at Costco and Mills Fleet Farm are different than the ones you would find at a parts supplier store. The good ones have a green top over a white case. Interstate is more of a marketing brand these days.

I happen to be shopping for a type 34 today. My Costco has their version of the interstate 800cca for $100. It is replacing a Walmart Everstart 800cca made in Aug 2016. Not to Shabby for a Walmart battery in my mind. I will however get the interstate from Costco because it is $50 cheaper than the Walmart online price. I had to click into this thread to see what all the buzz is about these gel batteries. I have 2005 Caravan. Is there a reason not to stay with Lead Acid ?

Are these batteries good to use to run 2 bilge pumps in a floating dock. Plan to out in a battery box and connect a solar panel 100 watt to it with a charge controller. Or should I use another type of battery. Thanks

They're the same batteries, the difference in the color tops is because to get the lower prices, (and green costs more than Recycled Black) Costco and Mills Farm handle the warranties. This is common with most warehouse stores, they get a great deal in return for taking on the warranty, so they're tagged differently so that someone doesn't try to get a warranty swap at their local mechanic who sells Interstate. They go to great lengths here so there's no question of the origin.

Personally I think it's an issue for the brand as I'm sure many people get pissed when they're told that it's a Costco warranty... with a dead unit while at a shop that sells Interstate. Even though the sticker states such on the battery. But as for contraction... same unit, it's a Clarios made unit most of the time (some are also made by Exide...)

Goes back to my point that buying on the brand is silly, go for the freshest ones for the best price you can find, they're all pretty much the same.
