Anyone have a guess on internal volume (for those of us who don't measure things in "cans")? 10 quarts? More? Less?

Once you put some ice packs in there, the 12 can would get pretty tight when packing for more than 1 person. I've had my eye on the 24 can cooler but it has been OOS for a while now.

12 cans x 12oz = 144oz
1 gallon = 128oz
1 gallon = 4 qt

Welded means metal that's been fused together through intense heat.
In this context the seams would be plastic welded through heat or sonic welding. Will probably hold in condensation/ice if the seams work as intended.

I have this cooler and like it for really hot days, keeps things cooler then most coolers in this price range as the foam in the unit is much thicker then similar priced coolers. The self on the top is a good place for things that need to stay dry but cool. The zipper pocket though is utterly useless except maybe to keep a fishing license in or other licenes in, beyond that there is virtually no give or expansion with the pocket...same of the bungee like side pockets, I never use either.

Will not buy... Microban® antimicrobial protection ...in a food cooler
Is Microban harmful to humans?
Microban antimicrobial additives are engineered directly into materials and surfaces. Therefore, using products protected with Microban technology does not result in user exposure or transmission directly into the environment in the way that products like disinfectants or liquid antibacterial soaps can during use.

Used in medical applications for over 10 years, Microban is registered with the EPA. NSF has also approved it for use in food and splash zone areas and food processing equipment.

Many ice machine companies incorporate Microban in their machines and bins to reduce bacteria in the moist environments. Many cutlery companies use it in their plastic handles so that do not become a haven for contamination. Even equipment companies such as Globe Slicers, Hobart, Vulcan, and others use Microban in the plastic portions of their equipment. Other products using Microban include Metro, Cambro, Carlisle, and Rubbermaid.

Swap Metal for "Material" and you have it right. A weld isn't specific to metal and can mean plastic.
