Nobody really cares about what purchases strangers almost erroneously buy but then don't. These are used for suspending a light object that needs to be moved up and down. They have nothing to do with securing a load.

A correctly installed and balanced garage door should be easily openable by hand when disengaged from the chain/belt. So yes. Any bit of roap should do. If it's not you need to get it fixed.

Started to buy these, then remembered I have a bunch of tiedown straps that will support much more weight.

If you are missing the rope that disengages the garage door from the chain, then I don't see why this is better for that than a piece of rope, or perhaps a single carabiner and a piece of rope.

The has an adjuster. It's meant for moving a light object up and down. Most people use them for suspending indoor grow lights.

These work great for supporting grow lights. I've held a 4x4ft t8 fixture with these with no issues.

I dont think anyone wants to use this as a lift….u need to press the trigger on the pulley to release the rope down…unless you are ok with getting a ladder to reach the trigger every time u want to lower it, and also while lifting the bike on the ladder so it doesnt just fall off….

On the other hand, i use this for tying down kayak in the front/back for extra security. Very useful.

These lock after pulled up, and you release it by pushing a switch in the black mechanism. When you rig this up, the switch will probably end up out of her reach.

I think something with a cam cleat would be easier if she can handle the weight.

Depends on the frequency of use. Keep in mind you need to reach the pulley to release, which means a stepstool or ladder, assuming it's not within arms length.

Harbor Freight sells a bike lift pulley system for about $10, where you don't have to reach the fixture to release. It works more link a window blind pull: Pull in the correct direction to release the rope. It also comes with a small cleat for tying off the rope as a safety mechanism.

As for the item in this deal, I've already ordered: I need them for seasonal items that stay up in the garage rafters for six months at a time.

I was initially thinking this would be nice to hang some bikes but not with the way these work. I can't help but think this would solve a problem for something... But not sure what.

Thanks to the helpful comments I've realized this is useful for growing pot, and not so much useful to me. Great job everyone!

I couldn't resist, I'm sure I'll find something to do with them.

Sure hope Amazon doesn't start recommending a lot of growing supplies, though...
