Any reason to buy this over the P1S (purely performance, not price or open/closed source)?

I'm thinking this price will keep dropping, considering it's in a similar price bracket to the Bambus. This would be a damn solid $349 printer but I'd say at $499 one may as well step up to the $599/699 Bambus.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure there are plenty hear who know more than I do about these.

You should take build size into consideration. P1S has a bigger build area. K1 is 220x220x250mm while the P1S is 256x256x256mm. It might not sound like much but it makes a difference. I have an X1C and I wish the build plate was a bit bigger.

I've also seen some very unfavorable reviews about the ad laden app from Creality and lackluster Slicer. I was considering the K1 Max but those reviews have me on the fence.

Another consideration is if you ever want to print color. The AMS is a game changer. Granted, it poops out color changing filament like no other but it's really nice to have.

Unfortunately with the experience some have with Crealty I think they will need to change up more than trying to create a printer that looks like Bambu Labs printers.

Bambu is very locked down and hard to mod. K1 is much easier and you can install CHT nozzles to double your flow rate (huge for high speed printing). Already a plug and play aftermarket hot end for k1 and more to come. No LAN printing on Bambu printers and recent cloud outage meant printers were mostly offline for the whole outage. And a big one: creality has promised to open source klipper in Sept, something Bambu will never do. This allows tons of open source software upgrades so you'll never need to use creality app again.

I have the k1 max (pre ordered it) and it has been fantastic from day one. After the launch coupon and promos from being one of first 100 reviewers my cost was $850 - $50 gc - $54 filament so around $750. It's super easy to get root access now with an exploit and in a few weeks you probably won't need that. Build volume is awesome. Once they release full klipper and the pin out for the motherboard this will be a dream DIY printer and highly moddable.

There's a LAN only mode. It sort of works. They have been fixing it slowly. Much better than when they first added the feature.

I came from a Sidewinder X1. I had a love hard relationship with it. I loved the ability to mod and upgrade it and I loved the build volume. However, I was always tinkering to get it working and printing.

We will see how Creality handles the open source thing and how the mod community grows. In it's current state, I probably won't switch just yet. I also hope they release an AMS unit. I've come to enjoy printing with up to 8 colors. 😁

For performance? Not really. For maintenance long-term? I would say maybe, but Bambu has surprisingly fair prices for parts. No clue how well they'll support it as they've not been around particularly long.

The P1S is the best plug and play product for the lowest cost that I'm aware of. Personally, I'm waiting on the X1S which should be the successor to the X1C.

Damn. Looks like a good price. Getting tired of my pruss clone constantly crashing and having torn this thing apart and replaced so many parts I really can't be bothered. But I keep telling myself if I upgrade I want multi-material... but this is tempting..

Yes and yes! I hear jingling coins every time it does the filament-change dance.

There is aftermarket hot ends, beds, and LAN printing on the P1P. Main reason I went with the P1P and not the K1 were the reviews that said the K1 was rushed; Coming from an Anet A8 and debating between a Microcenter Ender 3 S1, or ordering the K1/P1P, I'm gliad I went with the P1P. I was also effected by the most recent cloudgate, but nothing got damaged.

Enders are good to learn on. I had a S1 Pro until the extruder broke. Returned it and then picked up a Bambu X1 Carbon. The ease of use is night and day. The X1 is pretty close to being ready to print out of the box. It's also much faster at printing. Just depends what you're looking for.
