Chase is once again offering five free night certificates that can be used on properties costing up to 50,000 points per night when you spend $5,000 within the first three months of account opening on the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card.

They ran this promo back in May and I missed the offer. I believe this is the one of the best, if not the best bonus offer for this specific card.

They expire 12 months from the time you get the free nights. I got them in my account from last bonus on 8/4/23 and they expire 8/4/24
recommend looking places you want to go first, then decide if the card is right for you.

It's hard to get a room at a decent property domestically for 50k. Handful of real options.
wow.. how many points do you guys have to think that 50K night certificates are hard to redeem... Five 50K certificates is hands down better than 100K points... I'm having a hard time figuring out why 100K pts would be better unless you ONLY stay at Ritz Carltons or All Inclusives for 1 night.

A typical free night certificate from most credit cards is only 35K pts/night. 50K/night certificates, and they give you five is pretty amazing...

For 50,000 points you can stay in Manhattan. I really can't believe you would say that.

Is this worth getting if the only plan is to do it for the bonus and then cancel the card? I just completed the Chase Sapphire 90k deal, does it hurt your credit to keep doing these?
Definitely worth it IMHO. But it does hurt your credit in the short term.

I still don't see how it's "limited" for most people. 50K can get you most non-extravagant hotels. You can top off 15K like you said for 65K/night, which is pretty high end. Does it work for every single room.. of course not, but it will work for MOST rooms...

What criteria would you use to make it limited? The only way it would be limited if it wasn't enough points to book a room correct? The only criteria that I can see would be a hotel room above 65K which would absolutely be correct, but for most people, this won't be a problem.

Edit. I was wrong. The points amount I was looking at was for per STAY (3 nights). I stand corrected and probably should get some coffee.

It's that even at 50K the options may be fairly limited depending on the criteria you use.[/B]

Where did I say the certificates have limited use for "most" people?

I'm not talking about "extravagant" hotels. For example, Residence Inn Ocean City, MD is 74K a night in the summer. The certificates can't be used even with an ability to top off. Will some people have no problem booking a place they're interested in with the certificates? Yes. Will everyone? No. Point is people need to do their homework before assuming they will be able to use the certificates at a particular hotel at a particular time of year.
I took your statement to mean:

It's fairly limited - limiting for most people (didn't assume it to be limiting to an insignificant amount of people or else it probably wouldn't be worth mentioning

depending on the criteria you use - I took the meaning of "criteria" to be something of significance (or else it probably wouldn't be worth mentioning).

Fact of the matter is for every hotel it doesn't work at, there are so many more it will work at, I'd like to say at least 20.. but I'm just pulling numbers out of the air. Most hotels are under 50K, and even more expesnive hotels can be under 65K at certain times. Yes, it won't work for your Ocean Villa at Bora Bora, and it may not work for special events like F1 in Vegas, but it WILL work for most hotels...

I'm not familar with the hotel you mentioned but if you cherry pick hotels like that, of course it's not going to work for every individual instance, but you can use it for other trips too right ? Also, I didn't look it up, but I'm guessing if it's not available during that specific period of time, it may work for other times or there are prob 10+ hotels it will work at...

When this sign up bonus was offered by Chase and Marriott around this time last year, you were able to top-up the 50k certifications with another 15k of your own Marriott points, effectively making these 65k certificates which made them much muchhhh easier to redeem for worthwhile stays. I stayed at the Cambrian in Adelboden, Switzerland for a ski vacation and it was well worth the redemption for the hotels quality + ski concierge + proximity to slopes and shuttle etc.

Edit: I actually see many websites saying that this top-up is still available as an option so this is a great offer if you're already sitting in some Marriott points or want to transfer some points to Marriott to make these effectively 65k certs.

im a big marriott guy. using points has been easy. 50k is a lot for one night. my only concern is that this might indicate that the point cost of their rewards night are going to increase a lot.

i disagree. i have found 50k can get you in a solid 3 or 3.5 star hotel. plus these things can be topped off with 15k additional points, which should get you to a 4 star. im booking primarily in nyc and dc and these are some of the most expensive markets.

I have the premier Marriott credit card but have not received the sign on bonus for over 2 years. If I cancel my credit card, would I be eligible for this offer?

Used my 5 free 50k nights twice now for 5 night stays at the Walt Disney World Swan. Saved $2000 each trip. Would do it again if I were eligible.

I did the same thing, great deal if you're planning to use it on Disney property...

I was hoping you were right and started doing my own due diligence before signing up.

Holy moly! Marriott have significantly devalued their points!! 50K points could've gotten one into their full service 4-star hotels before (Marriott, Sheraton, Westin). I looked at rate for a 3 week night stay for the first week of October (first random date that came to mind) for Vancouver, San Francisco/East Bay, and Denver.
Vancouver area: a few 2-star options are under 100K points, but nothing under 65K
San Francisco area: nothing under 100K points. Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay: 312K/night. Ritz-Carlton San Francisco: 315K/night.
Denver area: better than the other 2 previous areas. Nothing below 50K, but some options are available between 50K-65K, including Sheraton Tech Center and Courtyard Tech Center.
I just briefly looked at SF and I brought up the flexible 4 night calendar in October. There seems to be availability at a few hotels, although not sure if it's in your desired area. However, with a 50K cert, you can't expect Ritz Carltons either... yes, that is a limitation.. Ritz Carlton and St. Regis are an exception and not the rule...

I did a 4 night because a 5 night would skew the amount of points needed (as the 5th night would be free on points) as it displays the total points needed per the entire trip, and not per night..

I also looked at Vancouver (in Vancouver now as we speak) and downtown Vancouver hotels are very expensive, at least the nicer ones.. but even then there may be availability just by briefly looking at it. I'm looking at anything around 200-260K pts for 4 nights. Of course, not every night maybe available but if it's under 260K pts (65x4) then there is a good shot you'll be able to find some availability...

If I call a rep to make confirm if I qualify, I have a number of bonvoy cards like the Business and Bevy. They were opened last year, so not sure if that matters.
