Chase is once again offering five free night certificates that can be used on properties costing up to 50,000 points per night when you spend $5,000 within the first three months of account opening on the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card.

They ran this promo back in May and I missed the offer. I believe this is the one of the best, if not the best bonus offer for this specific card.

They expire 12 months from the time you get the free nights. I got them in my account from last bonus on 8/4/23 and they expire 8/4/24
recommend looking places you want to go first, then decide if the card is right for you.

It's hard to get a room at a decent property domestically for 50k. Handful of real options.
wow.. how many points do you guys have to think that 50K night certificates are hard to redeem... Five 50K certificates is hands down better than 100K points... I'm having a hard time figuring out why 100K pts would be better unless you ONLY stay at Ritz Carltons or All Inclusives for 1 night.

A typical free night certificate from most credit cards is only 35K pts/night. 50K/night certificates, and they give you five is pretty amazing...

That's really annoying that they expire, but not a problem for many people. Forces you to travel somewhere they can be used within a year. When you get points as a reward bonus those only expire if you don't have activity which is so much better.

This is a great offer for anyone planning to spend 5 nights at a hotel within a year. Each Marriott point is worth .07 cents. So you the potential bonus is $1750 - unless you waste some points by booking a hotel for less than 50K points.

If you book a hotel for more points you can use points from and earned from spending the minimum for the bonus or already in your account. I did this in May, spent the $4K and got the free night certificates right away. After a year it can be downgraded to a free account.

I was hoping you were right and started doing my own due diligence before signing up.

Holy moly! Marriott have significantly devalued their points!! 50K points could've gotten one into their full service 4-star hotels before (Marriott, Sheraton, Westin). I looked at rate for a 3 week night stay for the first week of October (first random date that came to mind) for Vancouver, San Francisco/East Bay, and Denver.
Vancouver area: a few 2-star options are under 100K points, but nothing under 65K
San Francisco area: nothing under 100K points. Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay: 312K/night. Ritz-Carlton San Francisco: 315K/night.
Denver area: better than the other 2 previous areas. Nothing below 50K, but some options are available between 50K-65K, including Sheraton Tech Center and Courtyard Tech Center.
I just did a search for East Bay Area and South Bay Area for four random weekday nights in October, and there are tons of hotels for under 50k points/night.

No, you're not going to get Ritz Carlton level, but pretty much everything else was available.

I just briefly looked at SF and I brought up the flexible 4 night calendar in October. There seems to be availability at a few hotels, although not sure if it's in your desired area. However, with a 50K cert, you can't expect Ritz Carltons either... yes, that is a limitation.. Ritz Carlton and St. Regis are an exception and not the rule...

I did a 4 night because a 5 night would skew the amount of points needed (as the 5th night would be free on points) as it displays the total points needed per the entire trip, and not per night..

I also looked at Vancouver (in Vancouver now as we speak) and downtown Vancouver hotels are very expensive, at least the nicer ones.. but even then there may be availability just by briefly looking at it. I'm looking at anything around 200-260K pts for 4 nights. Of course, not every night maybe available but if it's under 260K pts (65x4) then there is a good shot you'll be able to find some availability...
Thanks for correcting me! I was wrong. I just looked again for example 3 week nights at the Marriott Downtown Oakland (okay hotel, nothing to write home about). The price is 135K per STAY! I hate that Marriott quote price in points for the entire stay, but put price per night in dollar underneath.
Glad that I was wrong in this case.

Yes. I still have one free night left from a previous sign-up. Looking at NYC on Sept 18…. Almost everything is 70,000 points. But you can only add 15,000 points to top-up your certificate (if you have any points, of course). But still…nada. Either 2 or 3 hotels in Wall Street area or one in Harlem. Everything else is 70,000 and up.

I assume that 50,000 points goes much further in smaller cities like Baltimore, Kansas City, and Spokane.

Applying will be a soft hit, which typically falls off your credit score in several months. Getting approved and opening the card should be a hard hit, which will also temporarily lower your credit, but take longer to "fall off" because you're also negatively impacting your score by lowering the average age of all your credit cards since you just added a new one. However, you will have more available credit total, which should positively impact your score. TL;DR: it really depends on your current credit history, but it shouldn't impact it in the long run. Unless you are planning to get a new car or house and need financing in the next 6 months, it shouldn't be an issue.

If you don't want to cancel the card, you can call customer service and see if they will downgrade you to a free card with no annual fee. I've done this often, but then I never use the card again after getting the bonus, so usually, the bank cancels it for me and closes the account after about a year due to inactivity. So I'm not really sure if it's worth doing since the impact to credit score seems to be a wash.

For the record, I've churned at least a dozen cards in the past 10 years, pay off everything in full on time, and my credit is at 820 and increasing.
Thanks for this! I currently have 3 cards open to my name, this would be my 4th. Score is 800 as of today and want to try my best to keep it in the 800's, but hard to pass this up since I can pay for a family vacation lodging.

Folks, I recently cancelled my Amex Marriott card and when I try to apply, it complains that I still have the card and I would have to forgo the new member bonus.

Does anyone know, how long I have to wait before trying to apply without chase complaining?

Can someone confirm that they allow you to top off 15k when using the 50k certificates and 35k annual free night?

Yes when you get a room you can either pay the difference or use points to cover the rest.

Got this last year.

Used 2 certificates for Nashville when TSwift was in town. 2 certs + around 20k points saved us $2000. Also stayed at ritz Carlton Amelia island for 1 cert + 7k points. This was a $1000 a night hotel on the weekend.

You can save a TON with this offer and stay at hotels you may not ordinarily afford.

Yes, can top off up to 15K... anything over and it won't give you option to redeem.

Any chance Chase would match this offer? I was approved for this card 10 days ago but for a lower offer.
